Whole Foods Belgian/Farmhouse/Sour Beer Tasting
July 31, 2008 11:45 am Beer Events
There are few tastier things than a sour beer. But why should you limit yourself to just a single sour beer? Wouldn’t you like to enjoy a large spectrum of the sour beers that St. Louis has to offer? Well, Andy Snead, the Beer Specialist for the Brentwood Galleria Whole Foods is giving you just that chance:
From the Lambics and Flemish Sours of Belgium to the farmhouse tradition of France, join us for a night of wild yeasts and spontaneous fermentations! We’ll sample a wide variety of styles including both Domestic and Imported. These beers will range from fruity and light to bitter and sour, but all have a rolling full palate and a great complexity of flavors. Light snacks provided.
If you’re just getting into sour/farmhouse beers, this event will really open your eyes to the full range of flavors these beers have to offer. The event is happening on August 14th from 6:30-8PM and the cost is $20. You can purchase tickets to this event here.

How many beers will be tasted? $20 seems steep to me.

$20 does not seem to be too much when you are talking about beers that will all sell for $8 and up. If you get a chance to taste more than 3 beers and some snacks, you are already up (I am assuming they are haveing more than 3 beers). Plus their labor and time and possible glass breakage.(spoken like a true retailer)

I suppose it depends on how large a taste you get. Being “already up” when you get 3 selling for $8 and up only works if you get the whole bottle. I would appreciate the chance to try a wide variety of these beers and would be willing to pay for the opportunity. But this is why I asked how many were being tasted since only 3 were named in the above post.

My guess is that only three were named because he was rattling some stuff off the top of his head. Andy usually features 6-7 beers at a tasting. I’m sure this will be no different.

There will be around 8 or 9 different brews. Both imported and domestic. And a special offering from our dear friends at Charleville!
Plus snackies!
