arbormeisterIt’s Monday morning which means it’s time to announce the winner of the two tickets to the Arbormeisters Homebrew Festival.  I’m happy to announce that the winner is Timothy Redel.

Congrats to Timothy for winning and thanks for the fine folks from Forest ReLeaf of Missouri for providing the tickets to the event. Tickets for this event are still available for the event this weekend and the weather is looking perfect, don’t miss out!

arbormeisterIf you want to feel like you’re helping the environment all while enjoying some delicious homebrew, make sure to enter this contest for two tickets to the Arbormeisters Homebrew Festival.

Thanks for the fine folks from Forest ReLeaf of Missouri, I have two tickets to give away for the event.

We’ll make this an easy contest, just email contest@stlhops.com with ArborMeisters Homebrew Festival as the subject. I’ll pick two winners Monday, September 12th at 9AM. A couple of quick notes:

  • If you’ve won something from STL Hops in the past 6 months, please be cool and let someone else enter.
  • You must be 21 or older to enter.
  • No multiple entries.

If you don’t win this one, don’t worry I will be holding more contests like this in the future, so you’ll have another chance then. Good luck! Tickets for this event are still available as well!

IMG_4338Last year STL Hops had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with 2nd Shift Brewing to create one of my favorite styles, a wheatwine. 2nd Shift was so happy with the beer they’ve decided to make this release an annual tradition.

I’m happy to announce that the 2015 version of I Am Become Death wheatwine is either now (or soon to be available) in St. Louis.  The recipe, which was devised by STL Hops Homebrew Club Supreme Overlord Troy Meier, remains the same.

In keeping with a new year, we have a new label as well.  This year’s label was once again created by my friend Mike Atwood previously of Hoosier Beer Geek fame and now 38th in charge at Sun King Brewery.  It’s a fantastic label and Mike is very happy with how it turned out.

I Am Become Death is a collaboration between friends and something we’re all very proud of.  You should start seeing it around town as early as today. Let us know what you think.

stlhopshbcDid you know that STL Hops has our own Homebrew Club? I may be biased, but I think our club has some of the best brewers in the area. Attend any of the festivals providing homebrew and you’ll see what great beers these guys and gals have to offer.

Did you also know it’s an award winning club? The brewers have won some local and regional awards for some of their beers. One such award was during the Ballpark Village Brewfest this past November when Dave McWilliams (aka DAVO) won the competition with his American IPA.

The award for winning that comp? He got to brew his beer at the Anheuser-Busch pilot brewery. DAVO’s winning recipe included Golden Promise malt, Simcoe hops and the classic 1056 American yeast strain. The beer was brewed a few weeks ago and it’s finally ready for everyone’s enjoyment.

You know what’s better than beer brewed by an awesome brewer? Free beer. Yep, that’s right, starting this Sunday, January 18th, you’ll have your chance to enjoy DAVO’s American IPA free of charge at the Budweiser Brew House at Ballpark Village.

Everyone is invited to attend a special release party this Sunday, January 18th from 1PM to 5PM featuring DAVO and Ballpark Village’s official “Beer Man” Tony Caradonna as they sample out this winning beer.

arbormeisterIt’s Thursday morning which means it’s time to announce the winner of the two tickets to the Arbormeisters Homebrew Festival.  I’m happy to announce that the winner is David Huber.

Congrats to David for winning and thanks for the fine folks from Forest ReLeaf of Missouri for providing the tickets to the event. Tickets for this event are still available for the event this weekend and the weather is looking perfect, don’t miss out!

arbormeisterI love when a beer event is partnered with a good cause. It makes you feel like your beer drinking is helping the world. In this case, your beer drinking really is helping the world because the Arbormeisters Homebrew Festival benefits Forest ReLeaf of Missouri, an organization that encourages planting of trees in cities and towns in America.

This festival will be taking place this Saturday, April 26th from 1PM-5PM and will feature beer brewed by the Garage Brewers Society and our own STL Hops Homebrew Club.

The unique twist on this beer festival is that each batch of homebrew has been crafted to include one “tree” ingredient. Some of the beers from the STL Hops Homebrew Club include a Persimmon Gose, an American Wheat with orange, lemon, and lime peel, and a Spruce Saison.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Your ticket includes a tasting glass, water, light snacks and unlimited tree-themed samples. You can purchase tickets via this link. Stay tuned as we’ll be giving away two tickets to this event tomorrow.
