itap-LOGOI’ve always railed against being a beer snob. I don’t find that beer snobbery really does anything to help advance craft beer. I don’t really see how being dismissive of what someone else is drinking promotes craft beer in a positive light.

I’m kind of a live and let live guy when it comes to beer. You drink what you want and be happy and I’ll drink what I want. It’s only in the past year or so that I’ve really begun drinking coffee. I never used to drink the stuff because, frankly, a lot of it is terrible. Acrid and sometimes burnt, it just never seemed pleasant to me.

But not unlike the craft beer scene in St. Louis has blossomed, so have coffee roasters that are looking to create the best quality coffee available in our area. My favorite part of this global coffee renaissance? The influx of AMAZING coffee beers we’ve been getting.

To celebrate this delicious amalgamation of malt and bean, the International Tap House in Soulard is throwing a coffee and beer event this Saturday, March 19th beginning at 10AM. They’ve got a killer line-up of coffee beers they’re going to pour.

And for you “football” fans, they’ll also be showing a full slate of English Premier League Soccer games. Head out to iTAP in Soulard this Saturday to start your day off right.

iTAP-Mardigras16-Draft3While a few among us are not interested in large gatherings of people, mostly it’s because we can’t find craft beer at these events. I can deal with the hassle of parking, lines, and general goofballery if I can enjoy some tasty craft beer.

Mardi Gras poses extra problems in that trying to find a clean restroom can also be a bit of a hassle. If you’re lucky, you have a friend that lives in Soulard that will kindly let you crash their bathroom. But many of us are not that lucky.

If you’re looking to attend this year’s Mardi Gras and are looking for both a warm bathroom and craft beer then you may want to check out this deal from the International Tap House in Soulard.

iTAP is throwing a VIP Mardi Gras Party. Beginning at 11AM on February 6th, you’ll get unlimited draft pours, food provided by Epic Pizza, and a warm place to pee. You’ll be provided a wrist band which will get you in and out of iTAP all the way until 6PM. All of this for the cost of $100 per person.

If this sounds like your way to enjoy a baller Mardi Gras, a limited number of tickets are available via Brown Paper Tickets.

Sunday-Funkday-Poster-Web-9-27A lot of people talk about trends in craft beer. One of those trends are funky and sour beers. But let’s be honest, funky beers aren’t a trend, they’re the original beers.

Before the days of stainless steel and caustic, beers were aged in wood and inoculated in the open air. These beers were funky from the get-go. This isn’t a trend, it’s revisiting how beer used to be made.

To celebrate these funky beers, the International Tap House in Soulard is throwing a Sunday Funkfest this Sunday, May 31st beginning at 12PM. Here’s the line-up of beers:

  • 4 Hands Cuvee Diable
  • 4 Hands Cuvee Ange
  • New Belgium La Folie
  • New Belgium Eric’s Ale
  • New Belgium Le Terroir
  • Prairie Elizabeth
  • Nogne O Kriek Of Telemark
  •  Mikkeller Spontanhibiscus
  • De Proefbrouwerij Sour Barrel #2

Celebrate the original beers this Sunday at iTAP.

I may have been wrong about the longevity of original International Tap House concept in Chesterfield, but when Brad Lobdell and Sean Conroy told me they were expanding iTAP to a new location in Soulard, I knew it would be a hit.

It’s easy to gloat in hindsight, but hey, it’s my website! Still, five years in business is nothing to scoff at and iTAP Soulard is easily my home bar. It’s where I go to enjoy a pint, watch a game, and hang out with friends. It’s homey (and I don’t mean Jason Smith) and I fell in love with it at first site.

To celebrate five years in business, iTAP Soulard is throwing a full week of awesome events. Be certain to head out, grab a pint, and congratulate the entire iTAP team on a big anniversary.

itap-teku2There are some members of the STL Hops community that take their glassware very seriously. No judgment here, not only can the right glassware enhance the enjoyment of the beer you’re drinking, but they can also look cool as well.

The Teku glassware definitely hits both points. What if you could not only get yourself a fantastic glass, but enjoy some rare Deschutes beers in it as well?

Well, you’re in luck because this Wednesday, February 25th beginning at 6PM you’ll have your chance to take home a Teku glass and enjoy a crazy line-up of beers from Deschutes Brewery.

The International Tap House in Soulard will be hosting a Teku Keep The Glass night featuring 2014 Abyss, Mirror Mirror, Not the Stoic, and Zarabanda.  There is a limited number of glassware available, so don’t be late for this one.
