schur2015I’m happy to announce the winner of the awesome VIP Schurcipefones package.  But before I do so, there is a good chance you didn’t win, so I want to remind you that a few tickets are still available at the very reasonable price of $30.

Anyway, without further ado, the winner of the VIP passes is Dan Dick!  Congrats to Dan (who’s favorite location is Bailey’s Range), this is the perfect way to end your STLCBW.

Thanks to all that entered and thanks again to the Baileys’ Restaurant Group and David Burstein for providing the tickets.  Make sure to head out to this festival this weekend because it’s shaping up to not only be a great time, but also a great beer list.

schur2015While doing our planning for St. Louis Craft Beer Week I’ve tried to emphasize our need for unique events. What keeps people interested an excited is creating experiences that they can’t get any other day of the week.

Four years ago my friends at Baileys’ Restaurants came up with the Schurcipefones event. Not only providing a beer festival to bookend STLCBW, but also a family friendly event providing great food, fun and beer. It’s definitely a unique event.

Last year for the STL Hops Anniversary Party, Dave Bailey and crew gave us four VIP passes to this year’s Schurcipefones event.  The gentleman who won this awesome gift at the Anniversary Party, David Burstein, could not attend and graciously donated two VIP tickets back to STL Hops.

What does the VIP Schurcipefones event detail?  It’s a pretty crazy package:

  • VIP Schurcipefones tickets w/ early access to taste all specialty beers first
  • Lunch at Schurcipefones from Baileys’ Restaurants
  • Receive a growler onsite to be filled at any Baileys’ Restaurant (restrictions apply)
  • VIP commemorative glass
  • Schurcipefones apparel

I’m giving you a chance to win the two tickets to this VIP tasting.  All you need to do is email with the subject of Schurcipefones (spelling counts.)  In the body of the email you must include your favorite Baileys’ Restaurant Location.

A couple of quick notes:

  • If you’ve won something from STL Hops in the past 6 months, please be cool and let someone else enter.
  • If you can follow the bolded directions above. If you don’t follow the rules, you’re automatically disqualified.
  • You must be 21 or older to enter.
  • No multiple entries.

I’ll be drawing a winner for these tickets on Friday, July 31st at 9AM-ish.  If you don’t end up winning tickets, don’t fret. We’ll have more contests in the near future.

But if you’re not feeling very lucky, a few tickets for this festival are still on sale via Brown Paper Tickets. Here is the crazy good beer list they’ve put together for the event:

For those of you that attended last week’s Beer School at Cicero’s, you’ll know that I can’t get this one out. So please don’t ask me to pronounce this. But, the harder you work to pronounce the Schurcipefones Festival (taking place Sunday, August 5th at Bridge Tap House and Wine Bar) the more fun you’ll have when you arrive.

This outdoor street festival, which will be taking place from 12PM-6PM will be fun for the whole family. If you’re looking to bring the kids, Dave Bailey promises plenty of activities for young and old alike.

If you’re looking to drink some beer, you’ll need to pony up $25, which will get you unlimited samples from seven different local breweries and one out-of-town guest. The breweries include: Schlafly, Urban Chestnut, Civil Life Brewing, 2nd Shift Brewing, 4 Hands Brewing, Charleville Brewing, Perennial Artisan Ales, and New Belgium.

These may be local breweries, but they’re bringing some never before tasted beers especially for this festival. The special beers will be released every twenty minutes beginning at 12PM. Here’s the current line up of beers:

  • Schlafly – Biere de Garde
  • Schlafly – AIPA
  • Schlafly – Schlafly American Brown

Awesome food from Bailey’s restaurants will also be available including breakfast tacos (from 12-2PM) and BBQ and Brats (from 2-6PM). There will also be safety checks for your bicycle from Big Shark, for those of you using two wheels and your feet to get to the festival.

Food, fun, and plenty of great beer seems like a fantastic way to close out St. Louis Craft Beer Week. Don’t miss out.
