canjamI’m sure if you did a very intensive search of STL Hops, you’d find many, many posts detailing my love of canned beer. So, I won’t bore you again with all of the reasons canned beer is awesome, instead I’m hoping you find out for yourself.

This Saturday, April 30th from 1pm-6pm, Global Brew in Rock Hill is throwing their inaugural Can Jam celebration. Global GM Cyle Lunsfordhodson wanted to put on a festival to not only serve up some tasty beer, but also, in Cyle’s words, “to shine a spotlight to show that great craft beer comes in cans as well.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Some of the participating breweries include, Oskar Blues, Ballast Point, Odell, Logboat, and of course local canned favorite, 4 Hands.

This party will also serve a dual purpose providing Rock Hill with a fun block party for the area featuring some tasty food from some area vendors including Katie’s Pizza & Pasta, The Slider House, and Lucky’s Market.

And if this wasn’t fun enough, Cyle will open a really big can (aka keg) of Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout at 3pm.  There will be live music along with some fun lawn games as well.

So head out to Rock Hill and enjoy the weather and canned beer this Saturday.

GlobalBrew_MainLogo_RGBReal talk for a second. This has been a weird-ass winter. When it’s not been unseasonably warm, it’s been unseasonably cold.  And right now it’s definitely unseasonably cold.  Not a fan.

Do you know what I am a fan of? You guessed it! PUGS!  Oh, and beer. Especially some big, dark beers in the winter.  Global Brew Tap House in Rock Hill knows we’re looking to keep this winter and plan on helping.

This Friday, February 12th, GBRH is throwing their inaugural Winter Warmer beer event. They’re busting out a bunch of big beers to help warm your cockles.  Here’s a look at the list:

  • Perennial – Abraxas
  • 4Hands – Madagascar
  • UCBC – Wolpertinger
  • Founders – Project Pam
  • Boulevard – 2014 Rye on Rye
  • Odell – Russian Pirate
  • Stone – Xocoveza
  • Evil Twin – Imperial Biscotti Break Natale

All beers get tapped at 1PM and will be on until they blow. Head out and warm up with GBRH’s Winter Warmer this Friday.

anightofevilThose post holiday blues are real. If you’re still itching to get one more use out of that rad Halloween costume you put together then you’ll want to head out to Global Brew in Rock Hill this Saturday, November 7th.

GBRH is throwing A Night of Evil featuring ten different Evil Twin beers on draft. The draft list is:

  • From Amager With Love
  • Lil’ B
  • Imperial Biscotti Break
  • Yin
  • Even More Jesus
  • Sour Bikini
  • Justin Blaeber
  • Ryan and the Gosling
  • Ryan and the Beaster Bunny
  • Femme Fatale Blanc
  • Start Me Up

All beers will be available in five 5oz flights of your choosing.

And to get into the evil mood, GBRH is having a costume contest. As this is a night of evil, the most spooky and devilish costume will win some nifty prizes. They will also be handing out raffle tickets to everyone who comes out will have a chance to win a bottle of Cognac Jesus.

Don’t let your Halloween end just yet, head out to Global Brew this Saturday and keep the holiday going.

GlobalBrew_MainLogo_RGBIt’s hard to believe that I’ve been living in Rock Hill for over ten years. And for about eight of those ten years it was pretty much a craft beer wasteland.

The Wine and Cheese Place, was about my only option for craft beer for a long time. But what if I wanted to sit at a bar, have a few, and then walk home? Nearly impossible.

It’s only in the past few years have we seen more craft beer pop up in nearby restaurants. But starting on Friday, my craft beer options get a whole lot better when Global Brew Tap House opens their first Missouri location right in my own back yard.

Located at 9578 Manchester Road (just a few doors down from the new Lucky’s Market), GBRH (that’s what all of the cool kids will be calling it) will be opening their doors on Friday at 1PM. And they’re kicking off with a bang with a killer beer list. Take a look:

GlobalBrew_MainLogo_RGBWe’ve been #blessed with a plethora of craft beer options in St. Louis. But, I’ll be a little selfish and say that I haven’t been as lucky in my neck of the woods.

Sure there are more than a few awesome places that I can get to via a short car trip, but if we’re being honest, walking back from a bar is the safer, smarter, and more responsible choice after you’ve imbibed a few pints.

So I’m happy to break the news that Global Brew Tap House is coming across the river into Missouri and will open their first St. Louis location in Rock Hill. Global’s Lauren Vardaman let me know that they’ve signed a lease at 9578 Manchester Road in the Market at McKnight development.

Now that the lease has been signed, I’ve been told that construction should begin shortly with a estimated opening date of summer of 2015.  This is wonderful news for those of us that live in the Webster/Rock Hill/Glendale area.  More craft beer options are better for us craft beer fans.

Hopefully we’ll have more information and construction images as things start moving.  Congrats to the Global Brew team!

On Saturday, a few STL Hops members trekked their way to Rock Hill to visit my home for a beer tasting.  There’s been a few requests for a chance to sit down and taste a few different beers with other beer aficionados and I wanted to offer up my home for that chance.  Here are some of the photos from that event.

You know you had a good time when you wake up and find half of a bottle of Stone Russian Imperial Stout sitting on the table and you pour yourself a glass.  Thanks to everyone who came out, it was a really fun time.
