mattingly_84x128.jpgThe Mattingly Brewing Company may now be producing full scale productions of beer, but that doesn’t stop them from showing off what’s yet to come. Tonight is the night many of us have been waiting for. Head Brewer Drew Huerter will be offering an Oak Aged version of his Pale Ryeder Palm Sugar Rye Tripel. Drew provided me with some information about this beer:

The Pale Rider is the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, Death, bringing the last blow of the downfall before the Final Judgment. Our Pale Ryeder is a beer of similarly epic proportions. In the tradition of strong, golden colored ales of the Belgian persuasion being named after the biblical forces of ‘The Adversary’, our Pale Ryeder will sneak up on you. At 9.5% ABV and 35 IBUs, brewed with Pilsner and Rye malts, Thai Palm Sugar, Magnum, Sterling and Styrian Goldings hops, then fermented with our house Belgian yeast culture and aged for four months before release. Please, enjoy savor the Pale Ryeder as if it your last pleasure in the mortal plane, and be responsible enough that it isn’t.

Here’s what’s on tap for next week:

07/07/10 – Per Aspera Pilsner

Be sure to head out tonight and taste some of Drew’s excellent beer.

Tonight Head Brewer Drew Huerter will be offering up the first week of Hop School with two different dry-hopped versions of theExtra Pale Ale. Here’s Drew with a few words about these two hops:

Our newest round of Peeks will feature our Hop School Extra Pale Ale at 4.5% ABV and 35 IBUs our simple base Pale Ale recipe was designed to be a launching pad for aggressive dry hopping. For these three weeks we will feature two differently dry hopped kegs of HSXPA. Our first two variations are dry hopped with Brewers Gold and Glacier. Brewers Gold is commonly found in Belgian and English ales and possesses a spicy and black currant-like aroma while Glacier is a newer American hop known for its low cohumulone content and more delicate citrus aroma than mainstay American ‘C’ hops, look for orange and tangerine character.
