615891-250A quick story before I announce the winner of two tickets to Elijah P’s Monsters of Beer festival. We’re traveling next weekend for some more wedding festivities and our flight arrives Sunday at around 11AM. I posed to my wife the idea that I could still feasibly make it to the Monsters of Beer festival. Sadly, that idea was quickly shot down. <sad trombone>

I’m pleased to announce that the winner for the two passes to the Monsters of Beer festival is Rusty Baum! Congrats to Rusty (who’s favorite movie monster is Godzilla) and thank you everyone for entering. For those of you that didn’t win, there are still tickets available, though they’re going fast.

I once again want to thank the Zach and Elijah P’s for providing the tickets to this event.

615891-250On October 25th, Elijah P’s in Alton will be bringing back the Monsters of Beer festival. Certified Cicerone Zachary Pohlman has put together a monsterous beer list sure to scare the pants off of you.

He’s also been kind enough to provide STL Hops two tickets to give away for this awesome event. This $60 value will allow you to partake in one of the spookiest beer festivals in the area. All you need to do is email contest@stlhops.com with the subject of “Monsters of Beer” and tell me your favorite movie monster.   A couple of quick notes:

  • If you’ve won something from STL Hops in the past 6 months, please be cool and let someone else enter.
  • You much be 21 or older to enter.
  • No multiple entries.
  • If you don’t think you’ll be able to attend, please don’t enter. I’d like to make sure that people available to attend have a chance to win.

I want to thank Zach from Elijah P’s for providing the tickets to this event. This contest will end on October 15th at 9AM CDT when I will pick one winner at random.

615891-250It’s hard to believe that it’s been seven years since the original Monsters of Beer Festival took place at The Stable. It was a fun event that combined big beers and fun costumes.

Zach Pohlman at Elijah P’s in Alton remembers how much fun the event was as well and has decided to bring it back. But if you’re going to do something, you do it even bigger and better.

So Zach and Elijah P’s is throwing a new Monsters of Beer Festival taking place on Sunday, October 25th from 1pm-4pm. $30 (or $35 day of) gets you a glass and unlimited samples of some scary beers.  Here’s a look at the beer list:
