Anniversaries are special times. They not only allow us to look back at everything we’ve accomplished but also provide an opportunity to look forward at what’s to come.

There is no doubt that New Belgium Brewing has done more for craft beer than few other breweries. For how many people was Fat Tire their first taste of craft beer?  For how many of us was La Folie your first chance to try a sour beer?

After 25 years I’d dare to guess that all of us have enjoyed a New Belgium beer at least once and there are few breweries that get to have that honor. To celebrate 25 awesome years NBB has teamed up with the International Tap House in the Central West End to throw a birthday party.

This Saturday, November 5th iTAP CWE is putting on a killer party featuring some heavy hitters from New Belgium. Starting at 3pm you’ll have a chance to enjoy draft beers including Love Blackberry Oscar, Love Apple Felix, Flowering Citrus Ale, La Folie, Abbey Ale and more!

You’ll also have a chance to win New Belgium prizes all afternoon with a special grand prize being given away at 6pm.  There is also a special 25th anniversary glass available while supplies last.

Head down and toast New Belgium for 25 awesome years.

Do you know what’s a wonder of the modern age?  Air conditioning. Why am I waxing on about modern conveniences on a beer blog?  Because I hear too many people talk about not wanting stouts during the summer.

I’m not advocating drinking a 13% beer after mowing the grass (though, there isn’t anything wrong with that.)  But, there is no reason not to enjoy some big beer after work in the comfort of your temperature-controlled home.

Do you know who has air conditioning and awesome beer?  The International Tap House in Central West End. While their beer selection is awesome all of the time, it’s extra awesome this Saturday, September 10th beginning at 2PM when they hold their Nightmare WAY Before Christmas event.

This event features some of the biggest and baddest beers in St. Louis all at one time.  Take a look at the list:

itap-LOGOI’ve always railed against being a beer snob. I don’t find that beer snobbery really does anything to help advance craft beer. I don’t really see how being dismissive of what someone else is drinking promotes craft beer in a positive light.

I’m kind of a live and let live guy when it comes to beer. You drink what you want and be happy and I’ll drink what I want. It’s only in the past year or so that I’ve really begun drinking coffee. I never used to drink the stuff because, frankly, a lot of it is terrible. Acrid and sometimes burnt, it just never seemed pleasant to me.

But not unlike the craft beer scene in St. Louis has blossomed, so have coffee roasters that are looking to create the best quality coffee available in our area. My favorite part of this global coffee renaissance? The influx of AMAZING coffee beers we’ve been getting.

To celebrate this delicious amalgamation of malt and bean, the International Tap House in Soulard is throwing a coffee and beer event this Saturday, March 19th beginning at 10AM. They’ve got a killer line-up of coffee beers they’re going to pour.

And for you “football” fans, they’ll also be showing a full slate of English Premier League Soccer games. Head out to iTAP in Soulard this Saturday to start your day off right.

MBSL_117556_ITap_Firestone_R1Sad that you missed out on Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival? I can’t say I blame you, it’s one of the best beer festivals I’ve been to and one of the reasons is to try some of the delicious Barrelworks Wild Ales.

Well, you may not be able to go out to Paso Robles, but the International Tap House and Firestone Walker are bringing a little of the FWIBF to you.  This Sunday, February 21st, starting at 2PM iTAP CWE will be tapping four very special funky beers for you to sip on.

The line-up includes:

  • 2015 Sour Opal
  • 2015 Agrestic
  • 2015 and 2016 Bretta Weisse

And funky beer needs funky music, so iTAP’s on Chuck Parson will be playing some funktastic jams to keep you in the mood.

iTAP-Mardigras16-Draft3While a few among us are not interested in large gatherings of people, mostly it’s because we can’t find craft beer at these events. I can deal with the hassle of parking, lines, and general goofballery if I can enjoy some tasty craft beer.

Mardi Gras poses extra problems in that trying to find a clean restroom can also be a bit of a hassle. If you’re lucky, you have a friend that lives in Soulard that will kindly let you crash their bathroom. But many of us are not that lucky.

If you’re looking to attend this year’s Mardi Gras and are looking for both a warm bathroom and craft beer then you may want to check out this deal from the International Tap House in Soulard.

iTAP is throwing a VIP Mardi Gras Party. Beginning at 11AM on February 6th, you’ll get unlimited draft pours, food provided by Epic Pizza, and a warm place to pee. You’ll be provided a wrist band which will get you in and out of iTAP all the way until 6PM. All of this for the cost of $100 per person.

If this sounds like your way to enjoy a baller Mardi Gras, a limited number of tickets are available via Brown Paper Tickets.

It’s easy to be reflective during this time of the year.  The holidays allow us to not only look back on the year that was but look forward to the year ahead.  It also gives a good opportunity to share great times with friends and family alike.

The International Tap House knows how to put on a good time.  They’ve been doing it for almost seven years now. To celebrate New Years Eve, iTAP in the Central West End is throwing their first NYE event.

On Thursday, December 31st from 8PM to 1AM iTAP will be hosting an all-inclusive NYE party.  For $75 per person you’ll enjoy all 61 draft beers and wine all night long (bottled beer available for purchase.)  They’re also include food (while supplies last), music and a special toast to ring in the new year.

You can purchase tickets now here. Keep the champagne at home and ring in the new year with beer at iTAP CWE.

itap-LOGONothing better than taking advantage of these lovely summer evenings than sitting outside with a beer and some friends.

The International Tap House in Soulard has put together a series of events under the stars with some stars with their Canned Beer Festival. On a selected Wednesday each month (weather permitting) iTAP will be showing a movie on the patio and providing some canned beers to go along with the film.

This Wednesday, June 3rd, iTAP will be featuring canned beers from Boulevard Brewing Company and will be showing Superbad for free. The movie will start at sundown (around 8:30PM).

Stay tuned for more classic movies and more canned beers over the summer.
