Edwardsville Spring Beer Fest PosterUnlike the past few years, I don’t think any of us can argue we haven’t gotten a proper spring. It certainly feels like spring now and I love it. What better way to celebrate this fantastic season than by enjoying the weather and the beer outside.

globalBreaking into your Saturday afternoon to let you know of something awesome going down in Illinois today. At 4PM today, Global Brew Tap House in both Edwardsville and O’Fallon will be tapping Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. If you don’t know about this monster, here’s a description:

Clocking in at 15-20% ABV and 120 IBUs, it’s easy to see why we call this beer THE HOLY GRAIL for hopheads! 120 Minute IPA is boiled for a full two hours while being continuously hopped with high-alpha American hops, then dry-hopped daily in the fermenter for a month and aged for another month on whole-leaf hops.

We brew 120 Minute IPA a few times a year, but it goes fast. If you find some grab a few bottles — some to enjoy and some to age.

This is a big beer, so make sure to have a spotter and a designated driver. I may have interrupted you Saturday, but it’s totally for you own good.

I especially love sour beers. I don’t know what it is about these tart monsters that makes me all lubby-dubby. The folks at Global Brew Tap House in O’Fallon must feel the same way, because they’ve devoted this Friday, February 14th to sour beers with an event they’re calling Pucker Up.

Starting at 7PM, Global will be serving up a bunch of tart and funky beers and will be doing a some parings with chocolate from Bissinger’s along with some artisanal cheeses.  Here’s a look at the line up:

  • Bells Oarsman
