canjamI’m sure if you did a very intensive search of STL Hops, you’d find many, many posts detailing my love of canned beer. So, I won’t bore you again with all of the reasons canned beer is awesome, instead I’m hoping you find out for yourself.

This Saturday, April 30th from 1pm-6pm, Global Brew in Rock Hill is throwing their inaugural Can Jam celebration. Global GM Cyle Lunsfordhodson wanted to put on a festival to not only serve up some tasty beer, but also, in Cyle’s words, “to shine a spotlight to show that great craft beer comes in cans as well.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Some of the participating breweries include, Oskar Blues, Ballast Point, Odell, Logboat, and of course local canned favorite, 4 Hands.

This party will also serve a dual purpose providing Rock Hill with a fun block party for the area featuring some tasty food from some area vendors including Katie’s Pizza & Pasta, The Slider House, and Lucky’s Market.

And if this wasn’t fun enough, Cyle will open a really big can (aka keg) of Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout at 3pm.  There will be live music along with some fun lawn games as well.

So head out to Rock Hill and enjoy the weather and canned beer this Saturday.

GlobalBrew_MainLogo_RGBReal talk for a second. This has been a weird-ass winter. When it’s not been unseasonably warm, it’s been unseasonably cold.  And right now it’s definitely unseasonably cold.  Not a fan.

Do you know what I am a fan of? You guessed it! PUGS!  Oh, and beer. Especially some big, dark beers in the winter.  Global Brew Tap House in Rock Hill knows we’re looking to keep this winter and plan on helping.

This Friday, February 12th, GBRH is throwing their inaugural Winter Warmer beer event. They’re busting out a bunch of big beers to help warm your cockles.  Here’s a look at the list:

  • Perennial – Abraxas
  • 4Hands – Madagascar
  • UCBC – Wolpertinger
  • Founders – Project Pam
  • Boulevard – 2014 Rye on Rye
  • Odell – Russian Pirate
  • Stone – Xocoveza
  • Evil Twin – Imperial Biscotti Break Natale

All beers get tapped at 1PM and will be on until they blow. Head out and warm up with GBRH’s Winter Warmer this Friday.

GlobalBrew_MainLogo_RGBPeople like to long for the good old days of craft beer, but I argue we’re in the good old days of craft beer. We have more options, better beer, better glassware, and more knowledgeable people.

One of those places we didn’t have five years ago was Global Brew Tap House in Edwardsville.  And now, five years later Global Brew is still going strong.  To celebrate their fifth anniversary GB is throwing a little party.

This Friday, February 5th at 5PM (get it?) Global is putting on a hell of an event. They’ll be featuring some delicious beers including:

  • Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout and Kentucky Breakfast Stout
  • Goose Island 2015 Bourbon County Stout
  • Dogfish Head Higher Math American Strong Ale AND 120 Minute IPA

There will also be live music and brewery giveaways all night. Celebrate the the good old days of craft beer with Global Brew in Edwardsville this Friday!

gb-abraxasIf you’ve got Perennial Artisan Ales Abraxas Fever (and not that abraxas fever that attacked my intestinal lining some years back) then you’ll need to make your way out to Global Brew Tap House in Edwardsville this Friday, November 20th.

In what certainly has to be one of the biggest Abraxas events outside of Perennial’s own tap room, GB has lined up a cadre of delicious kegs for your enjoyment.  This events begins at 6PM when Global taps the 2015 Abraxas.

It continues at 7PM when GB taps Coffee Abraxas and then Vanilla Abraxas at 8PM.  If you’ve not had either of these variants, do not miss out, they’re both remarkable.

This is sure to be a great time, so cure your Abraxas fever with Global Brew and Perennial tomorrow.

anightofevilThose post holiday blues are real. If you’re still itching to get one more use out of that rad Halloween costume you put together then you’ll want to head out to Global Brew in Rock Hill this Saturday, November 7th.

Don’t let your Halloween end just yet, head out to Global Brew this Saturday and keep the holiday going.

GlobalBrew_MainLogo_RGBFall is here and I couldn’t be happier.  This is definitely my favorite time of the year. And what better way to celebrate this fantastic season than by enjoying the weather and the beer outside?

Next Saturday, October 17th, Global Tap House in Edwardsville will be celebrating spring by hosting the Edwardsville Fall Beer Festival. Running from 11AM to 7PM, this festival will feature over 30 different craft beers and a portion of the proceeds will be split evenly among City of Edwardsville: A Better Place to Play projectToys for Tots, and Edwardsville Parks.

Here’s a rundown of some of the breweries that will be participating:

  • Horny Goat Brewing Co. – Tango Delta and Peanut Butter Chocolate

  • Erdiger – Oktober
  • Urban Chestnut – Schnickelfritz

There will be live music throughout the day and some great food from restaurants like Cleveland-Heath and 1818 Chophouse. Don’t miss out on this wonderful east-side experience.

GlobalBrew_MainLogo_RGBIt’s hard to believe that I’ve been living in Rock Hill for over ten years. And for about eight of those ten years it was pretty much a craft beer wasteland.

The Wine and Cheese Place, was about my only option for craft beer for a long time. But what if I wanted to sit at a bar, have a few, and then walk home? Nearly impossible.

It’s only in the past few years have we seen more craft beer pop up in nearby restaurants. But starting on Friday, my craft beer options get a whole lot better when Global Brew Tap House opens their first Missouri location right in my own back yard.

Located at 9578 Manchester Road (just a few doors down from the new Lucky’s Market), GBRH (that’s what all of the cool kids will be calling it) will be opening their doors on Friday at 1PM. And they’re kicking off with a bang with a killer beer list. Take a look:
