mce_beer4waterfinal-20160921-131809125Oh hey! I think I was supposed to give away some ticket’s to this Sunday’s Beer 4 Water beer festival put on by the Missouri Coalition for the Environment.

Without further ado, I’m happy to announce that the winner of the two tickets is Nathan Labruyere!  Congrats to Nathan and a big thanks to the MCE for providing tickets for this event.

This is a great cause and this will be a fantastic event. A few tickets are still available, so don’t miss out on this event. Don’t fret if you didn’t win, we’ll have something to give away again soon.

mce_beer4waterfinal-20160921-131809125It takes a lot of water to make beer. Way more water than you’d ever imagine. We’re very lucky in Missouri that we have an organization devoted to making sure our water stays clean. The Missouri Coalition for the Environment is throwing a fundraising beer festival this Sunday, from 2pm-5pm called Beer 4 Water.

Thanks to the MCE, I have two tickets to give away for this event.

We’ll make this an easy contest, just email contest@stlhops.com with Beer4Water as the subject. I’ll pick two winners on Friday, October 7th at 9AM. A couple of quick notes:

  • If you’ve won something from STL Hops in the past 6 months, please be cool and let someone else enter.
  • You must be 21 or older to enter.
  • No multiple entries.

If you don’t win this one, don’t worry I will be holding more contests like this in the future, so you’ll have another chance then. Good luck! Tickets for this event are still available as well!

theogBeer and trivia. These are two things I love. You know another thing that I love? That we now have a few groups in St. Louis promoting women and beer.

One of those groups is the OG: St. Louis Women’s Craft Beer Collective. To celebrate their first anniversary they’re throwing a Beer Trivia Fundraiser this Friday, February 5th at the Sqwires Annex.

Their non-profit club is using the event to raise some funds to help further their cause and have put together a trivia night to test your beer knowledge and to have a bit of fun as well. Beginning at 7PM, your team of four (or less, if you’re feeling super-smart) will have five rounds of beer-themed trivia to enjoy.

The cost is $100 per table which will include appetizers, door prizes, and of course the trivia. There will be prizes for each round and a grand prize for the team with the highest score. You can sign up for this fun event via Brown Paper Tickets. Don’t miss out!

So, things kind of changed between the time I started crafting this post and now, so pay close attention. As some of you may know, there is a local food podcast in town that I’m apart of called StewedSTL.

What started off as a way to goof around and create a fun podcast has turned into something relatively popular. Because it’s gotten so popular, we really thought we needed to up our game and do a better job on the sound quality of the show.

The problem is, we’ve already dumped over $2000 into putting this podcast together. For the sake of our marriages/relationships, we thought the best option to raise another $2000 was to create a Kickstarter for our upgrade. So, we’ve had a lot of people rally around us to try and get this raised.

Which includes the fine folks at 4 Hands Brewing Company which will be hosting an event this Thursday, April 12 from 4PM-9PM in which they’ll be donating 25% of their “total ring.” Also, friends and guests of Stewed, Guerrilla Street Food will be there dishing up some tasting food that evening.

So, this is all awesome. Right?

Well, like I said at the beginning, things have changed a bit.  We actually reached our goal of $2000 this afternoon. Which is fantastic, it’ll really help a long way.  But, we have 8 days left to raise money, and while we could definitely use the extra money for some other equipment we have our eye on, it didn’t seem right keeping all of the overages that will come from the 4 Hands event.

So, now that we’ve raised the $2000, StewedSTL will be donating 30% of all of the overages to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.  So, if this was all confusing, here’s all you need to know:

Come on out, have a few beers, get some great food, and have a great time.

New Belgium Brewery is hosting their Clips of Faith tonight, May 19th, at the Forest Park World Fair Pavilion beginning at 7:30PM.

Featuring a variety of short films created by amateur filmmakers and a number of different beers from New Belgium, the Clips of Faith festival is there to showcase not only the ingenuity of New Belgium Brewery but also some creative filmmakers.  This is also a fundraiser, so all proceeds for this event will be donated to Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation.

This will also be your first chance to try Pamela’s IPA, the beer collaboration between New Belgium brewing and a local St. Louis school teacher.  This is the first tapping of this beer in St. Louis.

If you’re looking for an afterparty following the Clips of Faith festivities, look no further than the HandleBar, as they will not only be tapping the first commercial keg of Pamela’s IPA in St. Louis, but also spinning records all night long.  RSVP on the HandleBar’s Facebook page to get $1 off your first New Belgium beer!

Looks like it’s going to be a lovely evening under the stars for some beers and films.

I’m sure most of you are aware, but New Belgium Brewery makes a lot of different beers. Sure they’re known for their very popular Fat Tire, but that’s a small portion of their entire beer portfolio. To help introduce more people to the New Belgium’s ever increasing beer line-up, they’ve create a new event they’re calling Clips of Faith.

Featuring over 20 different short films and 18 different beer styles, the Clips of Faith festival is there to showcase not only the ingenuity of New Belgium Brewery but also some creative filmmakers.  Clips of Faith is a one night only event, taking place this Friday, June 25th from 7PM-10PM at Soulard Market Park.  This is also a fundraiser, so all proceeds for this event will be donated to Trailnet.org.

Here’s the line-up of beers that will be available at the event:

  • Eric’s Ale
  • Belgian Blonde
