freshhopFor all of you hop heads out there, you know this is a very special time of the year, it’s hop harvesting time.  It’s the time when breweries begin receiving their 2013 hop crop and begin producing some of the best fresh hop beers available.

To help celebrate that time, Schlafly has decided to put on the fifth annual Fresh Hop Ale Festival.  This festival will be occurring this Saturday, October 26th from 12PM-4PM at the Schlafly Bottleworks and tickets will cost $25 ($26 online) in advance ($30, day of.)

The participating breweries purchased a bulk amount of fresh hops, which will the be used to create their own freshly hopped creation. Here’s the currently list of participating breweries:

  • Schlafly Beer – Hop Harvest Ale
  • Urban Chestnut  – Urban Blacktop
  • Crown Valley Brewery  – Missouri Black River IPA
  • Kirkwood Station Brewing  – Black Rye IPA
  • Six Row Brewing Company – Fresh-Hop Red IPA
  • Square One Brewery & Distillery – Hop Harvest IPA

As this will be held in a format similar to Cabin Fever, tickets will be limited and this is sure to sell out fast. You can purchase tickets here.  Watch out for a contest tomorrow on Twitter tomorrow to give away two tickets to the festival.

freshhopI’m pleased to announce that the winner for the two tickets to the Saturday afternoon’s Schlafly Fresh Hop Ale Festival beer festival is Dan Bostelmann (who’s favorite local hoppy beer is 2nd Shift Brew Cocky)! Congrats to Dan and thank you everyone for entering. For those of you that didn’t win, there are still tickets available, though they’re going fast.

freshhopDo you love hops? Do you love winning things? Well, today is your lucky day as STL Hops is giving away two tickets to Schlafly Fresh Hop Ale Festival. This $50 value will allow you to partake in a festival to enjoy some of the freshest hops you’ll ever drink.

All you need to do is email contest@stlhops.com with the subject of “2012 Fresh Hop Festival” and include your favorite local hoppy beer. A couple of quick notes:

  • If you’ve won something from STL Hops in the past 6 months, please be cool and let someone else enter.
  • You much be 21 or older to enter.
  • No multiple entries.
  • If you don’t think you’ll be able to attend, please don’t enter. I’d like to make sure that people available to attend have a chance to win.

The St. Louis Brewery purchased a bulk amount of wet Willamette hops from Washington state, which were then distributed to a number of area brewers who will create their own freshly hopped creation. Some other breweries purchased some other wet hops, which should add to the fun. Here’s the currently list of participating breweries:

  • The Civil Life Brewing Co.
  • Crown Valley Brewery

The St. Louis Brewery purchased a bulk amount of fresh Sorachi Ace hops from Washington state, which were then distributed to a number of area brewers who will create their own freshly hopped creation.  Here’s the currently list of participating breweries and the beer they’re bringing:

  • Amalgamated Brewing Company – Zoigl
  • Augusta Brewing Company – Dark Harvest wet hopped India Brown Ale

  • Exit 6 – Wet Hop Belgian Tafelbier

  • O’Fallon Brewery – Fresh Hopped 5-day IPA cask
  • Perennial Artisan Ales – Fresh Hop Red Saison
