You could probably tell by looking at me, but I’m not what you would call “the outdoorsy type.” Camping usually means heat, bugs, and other smelly campers. It’s not exactly what I’d call relaxing, but to each their own.
But I’ve been told that Bend, Oregon, home of Deschutes Brewery, is like a woodsman’s paradise. Plenty of mountains to climb, trails to hike, and rivers to canoe. While the Deschutes Base Camp for Beer Fanatics experience offers none of the things I just listed, it does offer plenty of beer (and that’s something I can get on board with.)

Deschutes River Ale Launch Party
Are you ready to try one of Oregon’s newest craft brews and chat with the fun-loving folks from Deschutes Brewery? We are sure you will fall in love with this session ale with craft soul. Other favorites like Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Twilight Summer Ale (just released!) and Inversion IPA will be on tap as well. Better yet? Meet Deschutes Brewery’s Brewmaster Brian Faivre! Experience up close his passion for all things beer and brewing. Great conversation will be accompanied by a stellar lineup of beer, including: Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Chainbreaker White IPA, Twilight Summer Ale, Inversion IPA, Obsidian Stout and the brand new, year-round brew, Deschutes River Ale. Women and Craft Beer

Bridge Tap House and Wine Bar Executive Chef Stephen Trouvere has designed an exquisite flight of gourmet ice cream made with Deschutes Brewery beers. Better yet? Build Your Own Beer Dinner
If you love beer and like to cook, then tonight’s the night! THIS is the beer dinner you don’t want to miss. Esteemed Schnucks Cooking School chefs Gay DeMichele, Lucy Schnuck, and Tory Bahn will lead guests through an elegantly designed “beer-dinner-how-to-cooking show.” Audience participation requires menu sampling and sipping on favorites like Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Chainbreaker White IPA, Inversion IPA, Obsidian Stout, and the brand new Deschutes River Ale. Brewmaster Brian Faivre will talk about the process of making beer. The Cooking School Chefs will discuss the food pairing process while demonstrating how to cook with beer via television. Deschutes Brewery Pint Night
Deschutes Brewery has joined forces with the brand new St. Louis Flying Saucer to feature a great lineup of beers for a special Base Camp edition of the “Saucer’s” famous Pint Night, including a few very hard to find brews. The Class of ’88 Barley Wine, a collaboration from Deschutes Brewery, Rogue Ales, and North Coast Brewing Company, will highlight the evening. This beer is limited! Also on tap will be favorites like Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, and the elusive, draft-only Armory XPA. Buy a pint…keep a special pint glass from Deschutes at the end of the evening.

Deschutes Brewery celebrates Base Camp for Beer Fanatics with cheese! They have partnered with local Marcoot Jersey Creamery at The Wine and Cheese Place-Forsyth to offer a few fantastic beer and cheese pairings. Learn more about the particulars of cheese from the folks from the Creamery and more about the particulars of craft beer from Deschutes Brewery Brewmaster Brian Faivre. Featured beers Deschutes River Ale, Chainbreaker White IPA, Inversion IPA, Black Butte Porter and 2011 The Stoic. Deschutes’ giant traveling beer barrel, will be on hand to share in the fun and act as a huge “photo booth” just for you and your friends.
