iTAP-Midsummer15-webDo you know what’s a wonder of the modern age?  Air conditioning. Why am I waxing on about modern conveniences on a beer blog?  Because I hear too many people talk about not wanting stouts during the summer.

I’m not advocating drinking a 13% beer after mowing the grass (though, there isn’t anything wrong with that.)  But, there is no reason not to enjoy some big beer after work in the comfort of your temperature-controlled home.

Do you know who has air conditioning and awesome beer?  The International Tap House in Central West End. While their beer selection is awesome all of the time, it’s extra awesome this Saturday, August 29th beginning at 2PM when they hold their Midsummer Nightmare event.

This event features some of the biggest and baddest beers in St. Louis all at one time.  Take a look at the list:

  • 4 Hands Volume 1
  • Deschutes Abyss
  • Evil Twin Even More Jesus
  • Evil Twin I Love You With All My Stout
  • Humboldt black Xantus
  • Sierra Nevada Narwhal
  • Founders KBS
  • Prairie Bomb!

  • Pretty Things Fumapapa
  • Evil Twin Biscotti Break
  • Perennial Fantastic Voyage

And if you want to feel good all while drinking beer, iTAP will be collecting “Back to School Supplies” for Lift For Life. Bring in any the items listed below for a free commemorative glass:

strangeinvasionSorry for the delay, you’re probably eagerly awaiting to know who’s the winner of the  iTAP and Strange Donuts Strange Invasion II.

Without further ado, the winner of the VIP tickets to this event is Kevin Carr (who loves the iTAP Soulard location.) Congrats to Kevin and thanks to everyone who entered.

We have one more contest for all of the STLCBW fun. Stay tuned for tomorrow!

strangeinvasionOh, iTAP and Strange Donuts. I owe my robust physique to your delicious beers and dōnes. It’s even more wonderful when the two get paired, which is lucky for all of us in that the International Tap House in the Central West End is throwing another Strange Invasion next Tuesday during St. Louis Craft Beer Week.

While Strange will be giving a limited number of donuts away for free, wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy a VIP experience? Well, thanks to our friends at iTAP, we have two passes to give away which will give you six different beers to sample with a different Strange dōne to pair with it.  Here’s the list of beers that inspired these dōnes:

4 Hands Downfall -Imperial Milk Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels with Raspberries
Donut with White Chocolate & Candied Almonds

Perennial Fantastic Voyage – Coconut Milk Stout
Coconut Fritter with Caramelized Pineapple

UCBC BarenWeisse – Wheat Ale with Strawberries
Mascarpone Cream with Grand Marnier Glaze and Pink Peppercorns/Strawberry Croquant

2nd Shift Katy – American Brett Beer
Salted Caramel Pretzel Done

Schlafly King Kaya – Chocolate Coffee Blonde Ale
Banana Cream, Chocolate Covered Cocoa Nibs

Civil Life – The Angle and the Sword
Lemon Verbena, Blackberry, Golden Streusel

I’m giving you a chance to win the two tickets to this VIP tasting.  All you need to do is email contest@stlhops.com with the subject of VIP Dōnes.  In the body of the email you must include your favorite iTAP Location.

A couple of quick notes:

  • If you’ve won something from STL Hops in the past 6 months, please be cool and let someone else enter.
  • If you can follow the bolded directions above. If you don’t follow the rules, you’re automatically disqualified.
  • You must be 21 or older to enter.
  • No multiple entries.

This event takes place from 6-8PM on Wednesday, July 29th at iTAP in the Central West End.  If you don’t end up winning tickets, don’t fret.  I’ve got another contest scheduled for next week.  Good luck!

Edit: Whoops, forgot to mention I’d be drawing for these tickets on Monday, July 27th at 11am.

strange_poster_public_webYou may be saying, “Whoa, wait, I don’t remember seeing a iTAP/Strange Donuts contest!” If you didn’t, that’s because you may not be part of our STL Hops Insider Email. We’ll be doing special contests like this in the future, so make sure to sign up using the form on the right side of this page.

That’s enough of that self-serving garbage, without further ado, the winner of the VIP tickets to this event is Joe Lorenz (who loves the iTAP Soulard location.) Congrats to Joe and thanks to everyone who entered.

This is an awesome event and there will be some delicious beers paired with some delicious donuts.  Make sure not to miss this one.
