2009_05_16_1508It’s time to have another STL Hops Pinball Party! This year’s event will be taking place on September 27th from 6PM-10PM and will be hosted once again at CP Pinball in South Roxana, Illinois.

We will have two different ticket prices again this year, so here’s the run down:

The cost of the event is $20 per person which provides you with all the pinball you can play for 4 hours. If you’re looking for transportation to and from the event, we’ve rented a bus that will pick people up at Lafayette Park and return them after the event. This will cost you an extra $10. Transportation this year will be graciously provided by STL Brewery Hop (make sure to check them out!)

Just Pinball: $20
Pinball + Bus Fare: $30

Seems like a pretty great deal for safe travel to and from the event.

We’re going to have a bunch of people bringing different beers to sample and you’re welcome to bring something you’ve been hording as well. Your ticket price is also going to include some delicious pizza from Bigelo’s Bistro.

Tickets for this event are being sold through Brown Paper Tickets (click that link!). Only 50 tickets are being made available at this time, so I wouldn’t wait around to buy them. Be certain to check out some of the photos from Sauce Magazine from the original pinball event, it was pretty awesome.

Sour beers are not for everybody.  In fact, the first time many people try them they don’t even believe they’re beers. But if you’re a sour beer fan, more than likely you’re a raving lunatic looking to try every sour beer that comes your way.

On Sunday, July 20th from 1PM to 5PM, Bigelo’s Bistro in Edwardsville, IL will be throwing the fourth annual Sour Sunday. Mark Pruitt has put together a great list of sour and funky beers on draught for the day including Perennial Regalia, New Belgium La Folie, and Goose Island Lolita. There will also be bottle pours for sale of Boulevard Love Child #4, New Belgium Le Terrior, Goose Island: Halia, Gillian, Juliet, and Madame Rose.

The full kitchen at Bigelo’s won’t be running on Sunday, but Mark will be offering up Carbonnade a la Flamande (a delicious Belgian beef and onion stew), mini pulled pork sliders, and their house made potato chips and sweet potato chips, and Nathan’s Fire Roasted Corn Salad.

And because Mark is a beer geek at heart, he’s encouraging you to bring out those sour beers that you’ve been carefully holding onto in your cellar to share. This may be called Sour Sunday, but it certainly sounds pretty sweet to me.

So, I’m pleased to announce that the winner for the two tickets to October 13th’s 13th Anniversary Schlafly Beer Dinner is Caleb Coy! Congrats to Caleb and thank you everyone for entering.

I once again want to thank Mark from Bigelo’s Bistro for providing the tickets to this event. If you’re ever in Edwardsville (or maybe even make a special stop out to Edwardsville) you must stop in to Bigelo’s Bistro.

Mark always has an eclectic selection of beer and has been a HUGE supporter of the STL Hops community. I like to give love to the places that give us love. Make sure to check it out if you haven’t.

Seems like Illinois is getting all of the fun stuff as of recent. And why not? When you have a venue like Bigelo’s Bistro that has put forth a time of time and effort to put on some great beer events, they should be one of your first options when thinking about releasing a new beer.

Unfortunately for Illinois, this will be your first and only chance to enjoy Cathedral Square‘s Barrel-Aged Holy Moly on that side of the river. This is very highly allocated beer and it won’t be released in Illinois this year.  So, being the good guy he is, Cathedral’s Jerad Gardner will be bringing over a few bottles of BA Holy Moly to Bigelo’s on Tuesday, October 16th to sample beginning at 6PM.

Here’s Jerad’s description of the beer:

Imperial stout aged in Buffalo Trace barrels for 4 months. 9.5%ABV.  Going to be on draft and 22oz bottles at the end of October.

I know Jerad has been very proud of this beer, so make sure to take some time to visit Bigelo’s and try out this tasty concoction.
