bassoWith a beautiful location and a pretty great selection of beers it’s not surprising that Basso has begun hosting  beer dinners. Next Wednesday, April 17th, Basso will feature a dinner pairing courses with Urban Chestnut Brewing Company.

The cost is $48 per person (which includes tax and tip); reservations are required and can be made by following this link. Here is the menu for the event:

Single Hop Trafalgar with Prosciutto Toasts, burnt pine nut butter, blood orange marmalade
Zwickel with Fried Anchovy ‘Whitebait’, whipped ricotta, fines herbs
STLIPA with Marrow Tots, grapefruit aioli
Hop Switch (Aramis) with Crispy Soft Boiled Egg, shaved asparagus, pecorino cream
Trafalgar (E Kent Hops) with Lamb Sausage Roll, caraway, goat cheese rarebit, mustard
Schnickelfritz with Parsnip Panna Cotta Parfait, banana bread and cream, candied walnuts

Dinner begins and 7PM and will feature UCBC’s brewmaster Florian Kuplent to talk about the beers. Sounds like a fun time in a great space. Don’t miss out.

bassoSo of you may remember way back in December when I showed off some of the photos of the newest (and possibly nicest) places in St. Louis to grab a pint: Basso.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit this unique space, a Samuel Adams tap takeover may be exactly the push you need to stop in. This Wednesday, March 20th (beginning at 5PM) Basso will be featuring a variety of Sam Adams beers to whet your palate. Here’s a list:

  • Cherry Wheat
  • Double Agent IPL
  • New Albion 1/6bbl
  • Dark Depths
  • Third Voyage
  • New World Tripel
  • Angry Orchard Hard Cider
  • Boston Lager
  • Alpine Spring

Basso will be offering up flights of these beers along with a special Boston-inspired menu by chef Patrick Connolly. They expect this to be a jam-packed event, so you may want to think about reservations. For more information including a phone number, be sure to check out the image below.

Tap Takeover-FINAL-01

It’s the time of the year where we look back at all of the cool stuff that’s been happening in our lives. For us beer people, it’s time to give a little thanks for all of the cool stuff that’s been going on with the St. Louis beer scene.  We’ve been moving at a warp speed over the past few years, so it’s good to give thanks for how good we currently have it.

It’s amazing to me to think of all of the great places we have to drink awesome craft beer in St. Louis.  It’s also awesome to know that there are more places on the way.  One of those places is Basso, located at 7036 Clayton Avenue.

This space isn’t your typical basement bar as this will truly be one of the most elegant places to have a beer in St. Louis. My picture don’t do this location justice, it’s just a beautiful location.  Basso opens on December 17th.  Check out the photos and the beer menu below:
