ciceros.jpg Cicero’s Italian Restaurant continues their Winter Beer School semester this Wednesday from 5:30-6:30PM. Cicero’s Beer School provides background about beers and beer styles usually directly from people directly in the beer industry. It’s perfect opportunity to learn more about a style you’re unfamiliar with or to just brush up on a style you haven’t enjoyed in a while.

This week’s school is being hosted by Shawn and Terry from Augusta Brewery. Patrick will be on hand to discuss and sample some of the beers from Augusta and to answer your questions. Go out and take advantage of one of the few places where you can drink and learn!

If you can’t make it out to the Beer School, you can check out all of the classes via podcast at Cicerosbeerschool.com.

If you were paying close attention to yesterday’s story about the Augusta Brewing Sour Cherry Beer, you may have noticed that there was a change in the Head Brewer at Augusta.  That’s because as of last Friday, April 30th, Steve Neukomm sold Augusta Brewing Company to Terry and Jeri Heisler, owners of John G’s Bier Deck.

What does this mean?  Not much really.  The sale gives Steve Neukomm more time to develop and sell the beer and spirits that have become more and more popular at Square One Brewery.  It also gave Shawn Herrin the opportunity to become the Head Brewer at Augusta; Dr. John Witte will remain the head brewer at Square One.

You’ll still see the two locations working together from time to time.  For example, Shawn said that the Sour Cherry Beer should be available for sale in bottles at Square One in the near future.  I think this sale will be the best for both parties as we still have two local breweries looking to make some great beer.  Good luck to both.
