augbotlogow_barley-small-web-view.jpgIf you’ve never attended the Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival, you’re missing out.  It’s just a nice time outdoors with beautiful weather in the Missouri Wine Country. This year’s festival is on October 3rd from 12PM-5PM, ticket will run you $25.

I do ask one thing, as Augusta is about a hour away from St. Louis, please make sure to have a designated driver, it’s the responsible thing to do. Here’s a run down of the breweries in attendance this year:

  • Augusta Brewing Company
  • St. Louis Brewery
  • Square One Brewery
  • Buckner Brewing Company
  • Morgan Street Brewery
  • Charleville Vineyard Winery and Brewery
  • Griesedieck Brothers Brewing
  • Anheuser Busch Michelob Specialty Brews
  • Mattingly Brewing Company
  • O’Fallon Brewery
  • Boulevard Brewing Company
  • Tin Mill Brewing Company
  • Buffalo Brewing
  • Prison Brews Brewpub
  • Amalgamated Brewing
  • Highlands Restaurant & Brewing Company
  • Hill Brewing Company
  • Cathedral Square Brewery
  • Garage Brewers Society

Bring your lawn chairs and your sun screen and be sure to come out. This is my second favorite beer festival in the area and I don’t think you should miss it.

beer 1338_1280x960.jpgI’ll be attending the Great Taste of the Midwest this weekend, which got me to thinking, what are some of your favorite beer festivals?

I can easily say that Great Taste is my favorite beer festival (of all the festivals I’ve been to) but I’ve also sang the praises of two local festivals as well.  For St. Louis beer festivals, I don’t think you can beat the Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival and Schlafly’s Hop in the City.

I think my enjoyment of those two festivals stems from the fact they’re both held in late summer when the temperatures have begun to drop a bit and you don’t feel like you’re going to die being in the sun all day drinking beer.

So, what are your favorite festivals?

A few days before the event, I was talking to someone about the Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival and they said that it was like, “The Field of Dreams.  You’re surrounded by corn field and a baseball diamond.”  How true that is.  I mean how often do you have picture perfect weather, sixteen local breweries and the ability to drink with a goat?  Not very often, let me tell you.

If you didn’t make it this year, you need to make sure you plan to take a trip out to Augusta next year for this festival.  It’s such a laid back, fun time.

augbotlogow_barley-small-web-view.jpgLast year was my first time attending the Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival, I called it a “beerventure” which is a pretty accurate description. It’s just a nice time outdoors with beautiful weather in the Missouri Wine Country. This year’s festival is on October 4th from 12PM-5PM, ticket will run you $25. Bill and Mike’s Excellent Beerventure. After a beautiful drive we arrived in Augusta about 1:30 and the festival was in full swing. We paid for our entry, got our glassware and were on our way. A total of 15 breweries were distributing samples in 3 different tents.
