I want to thank Brad Wheeling from Amalgamated Brewing for providing the tickets to this event and congrats to them on their second anniversary. Don’t forget, if you don’t win this one, don’t worry I will be holding more contests like this in the future, so you’ll have another chance then.

stable_128x126.jpgToday is your lucky day as STL Hops is giving away two passes to this week’s Second Anniversary Party at The Stable. This $50 value will allow you to enjoy over 36 different draught  beers and unlimited snacks at one of the coolest venues in town.

We all love you so much, but we need to talk. This love you have for beer is just too much. It’s time to admit you have a problem and The Stable is here to help you. On Saturday, February 27th from 2PM to 5PM Amalgamated Brewing will be hosting the 3rd annual Beer Lovers Anonymous.

Check back later as I’ll hopefully have a beer list and I’ll also be giving away two tickets for this event.

itap.jpgAshleigh Arnold is a busy woman.  Not only does she post on STL Hops’ forums as Beerwench, but she bartends at the International Tap House and helps to brew beer at The Stable.

Well, tonight at 6PM her worlds collide, Amalgamated Brewing will be serving, at iTAP, a Helles that she brewed.  Ashley describes a Helles as such, “strong, sometimes slightly sweet and can be compared to the taste of a Pilsner, just less hoppy and more malty.”

Not only will the Helles be available, but The Stable will be providing free pizza as well.  Sounds like the perfect way to start the weekend.

freshhopFor all of you hop heads out there, you know this is a very special time of the year, it’s hop harvesting time.  It’s the time when breweries begin receiving their 2009 hop crop and begin producing some of the best fresh hop beers available.

To help celebrate that time, Schlafly has decided to put on the first, and I hope  what will become annual, Fresh Hop Ale Festival.  This festival will be occurring on Saturday, October 17th from 12PM-4PM at the Schlafly Bottleworks and tickets will cost $25 in advance ($30, day of.)

The St. Louis Brewery purchased a bulk amount of fresh hops which were then distributed to a number of area brewers who will create their own freshly hopped creation.  Here’s the currently list of participating breweries:

I normally don’t post events this early in advance, but as this will be held in a format similar to Cabin Fever, tickets will be limited and this is sure to sell out fast. You can purchase tickets here, beginning September 25th.
