The Cellar House in Oakville is a hidden treasure for those of you looking for craft beer in South County. And if great beer wasn’t enough, they have done some amazing beer dinners as well.

Next Wednesday, January 25th, Cellar House is putting on a beer dinner featuring Perennial Artisan Ales. This five course meal begins at 7PM and will cost $65 per person. Besides the beers paired during the courses, they will also have Abraxas on tap.

Here’s a look at the menu:

You can make reservations by calling 314-846-5100.

label_sumpIt takes a balanced hand to create beers with special adjuncts. Too little and you can’t even enjoy a specialty beer, too much and it become overwhelming. It’s also equally important to pick the right ingredients, finding that harmony between the base beer and the adjuncts is crucial. If you have any interest in how these beers are created, it’s always nice to learn from the experts.

If learning more about this very special talent the you’ll need to head out to Dressel’s Pub on Tuesday, February 2nd for a Perennial Sump Blending Event. Starting at 7PM you’ll have a chance to talk to two experts in the field of blending beer and coffee, co-owner of Perennial Artisan Ales Phil Wymore and owner of Sump Coffee Scott Carey.

You’ll have your chance to blend from the following beers:

  • Perennial Imperial Stout (base beer)
  • Perennial Blue Label Maman
  • Perennial Abraxas
  • Perennial Sump

Tickets for this very limited event at $50 each and include a guided beer and coffee blended session with beer flights and appetizers.  You can make your reservations by calling 314-631-1060 or emailing

gb-abraxasIf you’ve got Perennial Artisan Ales Abraxas Fever (and not that abraxas fever that attacked my intestinal lining some years back) then you’ll need to make your way out to Global Brew Tap House in Edwardsville this Friday, November 20th.

In what certainly has to be one of the biggest Abraxas events outside of Perennial’s own tap room, GB has lined up a cadre of delicious kegs for your enjoyment.  This events begins at 6PM when Global taps the 2015 Abraxas.

It continues at 7PM when GB taps Coffee Abraxas and then Vanilla Abraxas at 8PM.  If you’ve not had either of these variants, do not miss out, they’re both remarkable.

This is sure to be a great time, so cure your Abraxas fever with Global Brew and Perennial tomorrow.

Perennial_Abraxas_V04I’m a stat nerd. I love things like infographics and maps.  Lists showing numbers and facts are like catnip for me.  So when I ran across the top-rated beers by state according to Untappd users, it definitely gave me a happy feeling.

As I perused through the list, it didn’t come as any surprise that the top rated beer in Missouri is Perennial Artisan Ale‘s Abraxas. This spicy, luscious stout is near and dear to our hearts in the Show Me State.

To celebrate this delicious beer, Perennial is throwing a special event next Tuesday, April 7th from, 5-9PM featuring a stellar line-up of Abraxas variations. The line-up will include 2013 Abraxas, 2014 Abraxas, Vanilla Bean Abraxas and Coffee Abraxas.

But there’s a catch (there is always a catch.) For those of you that are paying close attention, Perennial isn’t typically open on Tuesdays. That’s because this is going to be a limited special ticketed event. Tickets will be $25 (tax and gratuity included) and will go on sale tomorrow, April 1st (no joke!) at 4PM at the Perennial tasting room.

Each ticket will guarantee a 5oz pour of all of those beers.  The tasting room will be open to ticket holders only.  The kitchen will be open with the regular menu and additional lower ABV beers will be available as well.

Don’t miss out on your chance to try this very nifty event.

perennial-bellsWay back in 2008, Drew Huerter started a little event at Mattingly Brewing Company called Peek-a-Brew. It gave Drew a chance to showcase new and usual beers every Thursday evening. After Mattingly closed, Perennial Artisan Ales took up the mantle and started their Thursday Night Release program providing a platform for new beers to possibly enter the rotation.

And for the past four years, outside of a freak weather-related shut down, Perennial has not missed this Thursday Night Release. That is until now.

Perennial is putting their typical Thursday night on hold for one week for a very special event taking place with Bell’s Brewery. Starting at 4PM this Thursday, March 5th, Bell’s Brewery will be pouring Porter, Smitten, Oarsman Ale, Roundhouse IRA, and a firkin of Hopslam at Perennial.

And while this beer isn’t “new” I’m sure you’ll be happy to know that Perennial will be pouring Coffee Abraxas. That sounds like a fair trade to me. Delicious Bell’s beers and Coffee Abraxas. I’m sure this is something Drew would approve of.

Perennial_Abraxas_V04It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, I’m not talking about the upcoming holidays (though Thanksgiving is a close second) I’m talking about Perennial Artisan Ales Abraxas Day.

The time of the year where we all get to enjoy some of that highly sought after spicy chocolaty velvety stout produced right here in St. Louis.  To celebrate this delicious beer Perennial will be putting on an entire day devoted to Abraxas on Saturday, November 8th.

Beginning at 12PM, you’ll have your opportunity to buy bottles of Abraxas and also a limited amount of Coffee Abraxas as well.  Fear not, there will also be draft of both beers (while supplies last.) To combat some of the issues that Perennial has had in the past, there will not be ANY overnight camping allowed. But you will be welcome to show up bright and early and bottle sharing will be allowed until the doors open at 12PM.

For those of you looking to avoid the lines, Perennial will be selling a limited amount of VIP tickets beginning on Wednesday, October 29th at 4PM at the Perennial tasting room. Any tickets left unsold after Wednesday will be available on Brown Paper Tickets. These VIP tickets will be $45 (limit one ticket per person) and will include:

  • The option to purchase two bottles of Abraxas & one bottle of Coffee Abraxas
  • A 15oz Spieglau Abraxas snifter
