STL Hops St. Louis Beer Tour?
April 3, 2008 2:14 pm Beer MusingsBrad Mock suggested this idea over in the forums, so I’m trying to gauge interest in it. Would anyone here be interested in taking some Saturday in June, renting a bus and doing a beer tour around the St. Louis area? I’m thinking we could visit a few breweries, a few excellent beer bars, talk and drink beer.
It looks like a few of us are interested, anyone else? Also, do you have any suggestions for places we could visit? Feel free to post a comment or email me with ideas or if you’re interested in attending.

I’m totally down with that. It sounds like good time. As a homebrewer it would be a great chance to really get out there with a bunch of new people and see what they think about local brews.
I did a wine tour last year with a party bus and it was awesome. We all rode out to the winery’s and drank till our hearts were content and the hour ride home sobered all of us up. Good times. Knowing st. louis traffic on a saturday the same thing should happen then. Keep us updated.

I’d actually be more interested in a 1- or 2-day beer tour to another city - Chicago? KC? Denver? Memphis? I can find the local places here . . .

There’s probably interest from some of us over at Hoosier Beer Geek if the weekend works with our schedules.

That sounds like a great idea. A few years ago some friends and I spent a day going to AB, Schlafly and O’Fallon it was a lot of fun. Getting organized with a bus would be a lot more fun.
We could always hit up the brew pubs like Morgan Street and Square One.
With some advance planning we might get a special tours.

This sounds really interesting. While I’ve been to the brewpubs/breweries, I’ve not been to a lot of the beer bars you’ve mentioned on here (Bailey’s, Erato, etc).

Great idea Mike! And, let me just say that O’Fallon Brewery would love to host you guys on such a day (providing, of course, we’re all not off working a beer festival somewhere that day)!
I know it’s a little bit of a drive, but we’d love to have you all!

I could give you guys a great insider tour at the Tap Room, if your interested.

We might be able to take a little trip up 64 for that one, Mike. Keep me posted on the progress with the plan and let me know if there’s anything I can do to help!

Brennan, I could help…and do the same at Morgan Street.

I’ve always wanted to see someone organize a tour of STL’s historic beer sites, even the crumbling old bars and bottling plants that have been turned into condos. Stand at one foot of the Arch and hear the guide intone, “On this site in 1838, Adam Lemp opened his first general store etc etc.” Really get creative with trying to bring the history back to life.
This would of course be something of a greater endeavor than a tour like what you’re talking about here. Seriously researched and funded and all that. In the meantime, The Great 2007 STL Hops Pub Crawl sounds like a good time to me.
