STL Hops Monthly Events
September 2, 2008 1:17 pm Beer LoveSomeone (I think it was Brad) mentioned the idea a few weeks back about having monthly STL Hops events. Nothing out of the ordinary, just maybe a monthly dinner where we head out to some of our local brewpubs and beer restaurants and sit down to have some dinner and talk some beer. So the first question is anyone else interested in this?
The next question is, if you are interested, where would you like to eat? Just fair warning, I haven’t actually talked to any of these places about us showing up, but if we have a clear winner, I’ll get the ball rolling. We’d probably have these meet-ups on Mondays or Tuesdays as they’re going to be the less hectic days of the week for restaurants.

If this could be done on a Monday, that would be super. I’ve committed myself to 2 months of Tuesday evenings. If not, oh well.

Well, I think it’ll be on Mondays, but some places aren’t open on Mondays sometimes.

LOL…like the one with all the votes!

Well, of the choices here, I voted for the Stable. But I think that we should also try to support Buffalo Brewing. They brew beer on their premises, too! Love that Rye IPA that they have….mmmm…….
OR: How about switching it around? Spread the beer love around a bit….

I would definately agree with the spread the love idea. Maybe we could get a reputation of a group that places really want us to come and they will be fighting over us!
Hey, one can dream of big things!

Don’t get me wrong, like Ice Cube said, I’m down for whatever. I voted for Morgan Street since I haven’t been there in a few years. And I know Drew can hook something up. No Wednesdays, no Sundays. After that, cool…
And I really like the dreamy concept of our affiliation being sought-after! We, as the beer geeks, drive a lot of business in this town. Why not pull some strings. And I’ve done it before(quite sucessfully, I think) that if you want to meet at Whole Foods for a neutral ground of tasting, I can see what I can do.
I want to put some faces with the names(or avatars) of my peeps.
Cheers
Andy

I’ll be honest, I don’t know if I’m welcome at Buffalo anymore. Not saying I wouldn’t have it there though.

We all love beer, AND food (let’s be honest here
And: Life is all about forgiveness, and reparations
So….Buffalo is a biz, and my guess is that they won’t turn down our dough and the free publicity (which they are guaranteed to get when you post on this blog that Buffalo is the place to “be there, or be square” on that designated date and at that designated time—in fact, it would be nice if you could give them the lead-off beer dinner honors, if you feel that something is not quite right…

I think the idea is that we would be switching locations every month if I remember the original posts.
As for Buffalo, I agree with Trish. Ask them if it would be cool to be the first outing (not counting that magical night at Mattingly’s).

eh, I think The Stable looks to be everyone’s choice at this moment. let’s give it a bit more time.

For what it’s worth, I love the idea of switching around to different places each time–Shaved Duck & Cicero’s also come to mind as good spots.

Absolutely, to me this isn’t a static location we visit every time. We visit some place new each time.

Everyone would be welcome at Buffalo. It would be great to spread the love around every month at a different place.

Buffalo’s my go-to place (not that I go out very much). Really looking forward to stopping by there before a show on Friday at Fubar down the street.

I voted Stable as the beer list is fluid, you never know what is going to be on tap or in bottles.
Other places I would suggest (but some may not work):
Iron Barley
Ciceros
Shaved Duck
Rotten Apple
Growlers
Granite City Brewery (mix the IPA with the Irish Red when its in season, yum!)
