STL Hops Forums
January 9, 2008 11:49 am Site DealingsSomeone suggested this idea a while back and I thought it was a great idea. So thanks to Bill we’ve now got our own forums to discuss beer matters and whatnot in St. Louis. If you have any suggestions or things you’d like to see just give me a heads up. So what are you waiting for? Sign up!
Edit: Let me quickly add that I’m not going to start posting information or news in the forum that I wouldn’t post on the blog. I realize some people aren’t interested in posting on a forum and are only interested in the news I post. So that’s not going to change. I just thought people would like a relaxed atmosphere to discussed beer related stuff going on in St. Louis. Like I said in the comments here, if the forum doesn’t fly and people aren’t interested that’s not a big deal. I didn’t put that much time into it.

Considering there are already 2 homebrew clubs with forums in the St. Louis area, is there really a need for another forum?

Eh, this isn’t really a homebrew forum as much as it’s a general beer forum for St. Louis. If it doesn’t fly, no big deal, didn’t take much work to put together.

Bryan, vastly more people drink beer than homebrew.
Thus, I’d never join a homebrew forum because of the signal to noise ratio, but I would join a local beer forum to trade beer, etc.

I guess where I am coming from is most of the beer geeks in this area that I know are also homebrewers. I do see where you are coming from with the signal noise, but I didn’t realize that the it was that strong.
Of course there are more people that drink beer than homebrew, but out of those people how many drink craft beer, and more importantly, out of those, active traders?
I hate shipping my beers out for trading, and think it would be a good idea to get something like that going.
