stlcbwAll of this week I’ll be detailing the events of the inaugural St. Louis Craft Beer Week on STL Hops to bring more visibility to the event.

I can’t begin to stress enough how important it is for all of us to help make this event successful.

If you care about beer and beer awareness in St. Louis, it’s important to show the retailers, breweries and restaurants involved that there are people that care about beer.  If you love beer and I know you all do otherwise you wouldn’t be here, it’s time to show it.

Anyway, here’s a rundown of the events taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday:

Tuesday, June 2nd

Beer and Cheese Matching – The Wine and Cheese Place Clayton – 6PM
$20 Per Person – Reservations are required (314-727-8788)
We will try some great cheese matched with great beers. We are going into places where many people think only wine should go. Try some IPA and Cheddar, some Cave Aged Gruyere and Doppelbock, Livarot and Biere de Garde, Barleywine and Stilton, Humbolt Fog and Saison. This will be a fun time and a great learning experience. (Matchings subject to change based on which cheeses are available and delicious at the time)

Founder’s Draught Release Party – The Stable – 6PM-9PM

Founder’s Brewery will finally be available in Missouri and now it’s time to celebrate. Join Missouri Beverage and Founder’s Director of Sales, Michael Bell as they kick off the release of draught Founder’s Beer in Missouri at The Stable.

Tenacious Trivia: Beer Edition – Newstead Tower Public House – 8PM

Time to test your beer knowledge with some Beer Trivia thanks to Newstead Tower Public House. First come, first serve and tables fill up fast, so make sure to get there early and stake out your spot!

Bell’s Beer Dinner – Renaissance St. Louis Airport – 7PM
$50 Per Person – Reservations are required (314-890-3027)
Join Bell’s Brewery’s Jim O’Connor and Renaissance’s Tbone Trattoria’s Executive Chef Chris Stroup as they delight you with five course that are expertly paired with five different beers from Bell’s Brewery. Click this link to see the full menu.

Sam Adams Beer Tasting – Lukas Liquor – 4PM-7PM

No better way to celebrate St. Louis Craft Beer Week than tasting some of the newest selections from one of the original craft brewing pioneers. Join Jay Hornback and Lukas Liquor to taste the new Sam Adams Imperial Series, which include the Imperial Stout, Imperial White and Imperial Double Bock. With any luck there will also be some tastings of the Longshot beers as well.


Wednesday, June 3rd

Bell’s Brewery Beer School – Cicero’s – 5:30PM-6:30PM
Free Event
Bell Brewery’s Jim O’Connor will be at Cicero’s weekly Wednesday Beer School where he’ll be talking about cask ales and secondary fermentation and a history on traditional beer vessels and pouring techniques. Afterward, he’ll be opening a cask of Bell’s Porter for you to purchase at the bar.

Peek-a-Brew – Mattingly Brewing Company – 6PM

Mattingly Brewing Company Head Brewer Drew Huerter will be serving up his famed Pale Ryeder Tripel. Drew describes it as such: “At 9.2% ABV and 35 IBUs, brewed with Pilsner and Rye malts, Thai Palm Sugar, Magnum, Sterling and Styrian Goldings hops, then fermented with our house Belgian yeast culture and aged for four months before release. Please, enjoy savor the Pale Ryeder as if it your last pleasure in the moral plane, and be responsible enough that it isn’t.”

Founder’s Brewery’s Michael Bell will be at the International Tap house to mingle and talk about the newest releases from Founder’s in St. Louis. Michael is extremely knowledgeable and will really give you some great information about this fantastic brewery.
