St. Louis Brews Looking For New Meeting Place
August 4, 2008 9:51 am Beer News
The St. Louis Brews homebrewing club is looking for a new meeting spot to hold their monthly meetings. They’ve got a few requirements for the space and I was hoping that the readers of STL Hops may be able them find a location. Here are the requirements:
- Must be able to bring in alcohol
- Preferably cheap (about $50 per meeting)
- Be able to accommodate 70-80 people
- A Kitchen
- Centrally Located (would be nice.)
Anyone have any suggestions?

I recall someone saying last time we moved that Alandale’s had said we’d be welcome. Wonder if that’s still an option or if any of the other new brewpubs would be interested?

I would offer the store, but our tasting room only holds 36 people sitting down and no kitchen.

Foam Coffee and Beer is opening at Jefferson and Cherokee in about six weeks. I couldn’t be available till October, but that’s a possibility.

I suggested Alandales last year and everybody decided the church was better. They have a large banquet room, a kitchen (DUH) and would love to have you. It is centrally located and in a brewery dammit. Brewery’s and homebrew clubs are always a good match. We at O’Fallon have that relationship with the GBS Group. Just give it a thought.

One of the issues that may spring up is that even if 50 people can fit in, we need a lot of space to fit the beer (most of it has to stay in a cooler of some king), move around and serve the beer, and parking. It’s unfortunate that we can’t stay at the church. It’s about perfect.
