Everything old is new again. That’s not to say that Black IPAs are an old style. In fact, they’re one of the newest styles taking root across the US. In this case, the “old” part is that Six Row Brewing Company hasn’t brewed this beer since last year’s Fresh Hop Beer Festival.
Beginning next Friday, August 26th, Six Row will be putting their Black IPA back on tap at their brewery. For those of you that attended their Black IPA flight night during the St. Louis Craft Beer Week, well, you hand a little hand in creating this beer.
Six Row’s head brewer Evan Hiatt informs me that when people voted on their favorite dry-hop during the flight night, you determined that “Summit (hop) was a landslide winner.” So, you can expect to see this IPA have a big orange/tangerine aroma next week.
I’m happy to be reliving some of the classics, even if it’s just for a short time each year.
