Quickly interrupt your standard Friday posts to tell you that a new Schlafly Bottleworks exclusive beer is going on tap today, the Single Hop Citra Pale Ale.  This is Schlafly’s continued effort to not only get people to drink great beer, but to learn more about it as well.

When you limit your beer to just a single ingredient, in this case a hop, you have a better opportunity to learn what you may or may not like about that ingredient.  The most fascinating thing about this beer is that Schlafly is highlighting a new-ish hop variety called Citra.  Here’s some info from Northern Brewer about Citra:

A very new American hop with parentage from Hallertau Mittelfruh, East Kent Goldings, and others. High alpha and strong tropical fruit aromas and flavors (think mango, papaya, and pineapple). Best known as a dry hop in Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA. Typical alpha: 10-12%.

So, if you’re the type of person who loves a fruity hop aroma and flavor, this 6.2% ABV 37 IBU beer might be right up your alley.
