Just about every Tuesday evening, The Royale hosts an event where they guide you through the wonderful world of beer styles, breweries and beer history. This week they’ll be featuring the An Evening with North Coast Brewing. Here’s a quick synopsis of what will be on tap:
“A brewery that defined several styles of American craft beer over a decade ago, North Coast remains a proud representative of kickass California beer. And tonight we are featuring three–three!– of their offerings on draught and one in a bottle, a rare ratio indeed.
Old Rasputin–The quintessential American imperial stout served on nitro the way the brewers intended. Black and beautiful. 9%
Brother Thelonious–A Belgian-style strong dark ale with a surprisingly light body and that telltale Belgian fruit-funk yeast character. 9.4%
Grand Cru–This term has been used by wineries to signify their best selection, reserved for those with discerning tastes. Lately, breweries have been producing strong Belgian-style pale ales under the name, many with wine-like characteristics. This beer has a bright, spiced pear & honey character, with very little evidence of its ABV. Careful, now. 12.9%
Scrimshaw Pilsner–Our sole bottle selection, this hearty, flavorful, Bohemian-style pilsner lager will be just what you need to cool off after this brutal summer–or after a much more substantial first round from the list above. 4.4%”
The Royale is one the finest pubs in St. Louis to enjoy a beer and their employees are extremely passionate and extremely knowledgeable people. This is a great opportunity to not only enjoy some great beer, but to learn about just some of the great styles of beer and breweries we have available in St. Louis.
