Lagunitas is one of the best bangs for your buck.

This may be the first time St Louis is last to get a beer. I think most of the state has been getting the IPA and Pale Ale for a few months. But that’s it. Miller isn’t distributing bombers throughout the state yet for some reason. Sycamore in Columbia will also be getting Brown Sugga on draught.

One of my favorites Califronia breweries and a killer value compared to the other ones! Awesome! Love the IPA.

While this is certainly good news, as Lagunitas make some delicious beers, I wonder where/when the tipping point is that leaves good, once-fresh beer on the shelves for too long due to an overabundance of choices in our particular region. I could argue that we’re already past that point. Frankly, I’d rather have, say, 15-20 good breweries on the shelves that move fast enough to ensure consistent freshness, as opposed to three times that amount and some purchases being a complete crapshoot. I definitely limit where I buy my beer these days, and do my best to stay on top on what is recent at those places, but with so many choices, one cannot help but get burnt at least every once in awhile.

Does anyone else think the local hoppy beer market is already saturated? I’m sure Lagunitas IPA is good, but why bother when you already have more IPAs in town than one can count? Is this a way to try and one up O’Fallon 5-Day?

Ah yes Lagunitas and Summit see what you’ve done by delaying your arrival! Now there is doubt on whether the market will support you, and our IL and CoMo brethren are mocking us! Future brewers/distibutors take note: please don’t tell us your coming and then wait 6mos-1yr.

Glad to see Lagunitas should be here soon. I think they are a welcome addition. They make some very good beers and their price points are generally lower than their competitors.

Hasn’t been said what we’re getting in STL yet. I sure hope Hop Stoopid is in the line up. That’s one of the best bang-for-the-buck hoppy beers out there.

The Hop Stoopid tag has been on the shelf at Fenton Shop N Save for over a month. So maybe we are getting bombers of it?

As other IL idiots like me have mentioned, been enjoying them for years.

Yeah, it’s a lot of choices and time is limited – so ramp up and get to drinking!

Their coffee cap. stout is a great winter brew.

I’m looking forward to them coming here. It brings back memories of our 25th Anniversary trip. But so does Bear Republic.

Since everybody’s talking about how reasonably priced Lagunitas is, what does a sixer go for?

Their 22oz’ers are 4.50-5.00 for 9-10% beer when others are like 8 and 9 bucks. At least that was the way it was in Texas. Everything seemed to be more expensive there so I figure it should hold true here as well.

Hop Stoopid 22s were 5.99 at Binny’s in Chicago a couple months ago, right next to the 12.99 Dreadnaught 22s. Guess which one I bought.

According to Lagunitas, this is what our first shipment to STL will look like….the truck is loaded and has left their building!!

Is Shop n’ Save the place to go? A friend is visiting over the holidays from Petaluma, home of Lagunitas, and requires much Maximus. Wouldn’t mind picking up some Hops Stoopid for myself either. And for anyone that makes a visit west, the brewery has opened a beer garden in Petaluma, check it out.

Scott, if I remember right Shop n Save had Hop Stoopid 22oz advertised at $3.50ish a bottle…just waiting for them to stock the shelves!

Yeah the Hop Stoopid was listed at 3.49 or 3.39 at the SnS I was at! That was the only Lagunitas tag I saw so far though.

Just saw TWCP blog and the intro prices are $8.49 for most six packs (including maximus) and $3.59 for Hop Stoopid. YES!!!

Ah, this will be a Merry Christmas indeed!

So, not knocking Paul or the brewery at all, but is $8.49 the uber-bargain everyone was clamoring about above?

$8.49 for a 72 IBU / 7.5% abv six pack seems pretty good to me. However, I think the bargain we’re all talking about is the bombers. Is there anyone that has a big ol’ hoppy (over 100 ibus) beer like Hop Stoopid for $3.59?

I agree that those are good values. I would also add that 75 IBU/ 6.6% Founders Red’s Rye is also a good value at $8.99/ 6-pk. I’d also add that 10% Old Rasputin Imperial Stout 4-pks at $8.49 might be the best beer value in the entire U.S. beer market.

I think Founder’s is a great deal overall. That Founders Impy Stout at $8.99 / four pack is a fantastic deal. Glad we can get both Lagunitas and Founders over here ~ love ‘em both.

Another IPA? Don’t get me wrong, I know Lagunitas is a popular brand, but why is someone going to go to the bar to buy Lagunitas IPA on tap when you have good, locally brewed IPA’s at a competitive rate?

Boulevard Single-Wide, Schlafly IPA (coming soon), O’Fallon IPA, plus the brewpubs? Is this guy trying to squeeze out the local breweries who haven’t gone with Summit (yes I know BLVD is with Summit but still)? Summit should stick with what they do best and sell Miller.
