Full Stable Beer List

2:13 pm Beer News

I shouldn’t have been shocked when Jared Gardner, the beverage manager for the Rotten Apple, sent me over an another beer list for The Stable that also included bottles, but I was pretty bowled over. Not only will they have an impressive draught list, but some great bottle beers as well. The Stable is open for bar service now and will be opening full service either Friday or Saturday from what I’ve been hearing. Give them a call to find out for sure. Oh and Jared also let me in on a little surprise, see if you can find it in this new list:

I see it! I see it!

There are actually a couple surprises on there.

Kinda disappointed Stag isn’t on draft.

Side topic, whats with the different spellings of “draft/draught”?

If I had to take a guess “draught” was the original English spelling and us Americans changed it to “draft.” That being said, I prefer “draught.”

Edit: Sure enough, Wikipedia proves me right:

In British English the word is spelled draught in some senses and draft in others. It is draught beer, a draught horse, a draught meaning a current of air or a ship’s minimum depth of water to float, and the game draughts - all of which retain the older spelling draught. The simplified spelling draft is used for a plan or sketch, for a preliminary version of a document and for the verb meaning to write it, for an order of payment, and for military conscription (although this last meaning is not as common as in American English). In the USA the spelling is draft in all these cases.

We haven’t seen Kostritzer in Missouri for a long time (if ever). Major yums on draft.

And, of course, I’m completely psyched to see draft Two-Hearted back in town!

I believe my order will be:

    Hopmouth
    2 Hearted
    5 Day
    Scrimshaw

Hooray on the Two Hearted draft!

Why the change from Schlafly Export IPA to Schlafly Schwarzbier? I was kinda looking forward to the Export IPA on draft. It’s probably just a seasonal thing, but I don’t think I’ve seen the Export on tap anywhere. I don’t make it to Bottleworks much (and hardly ever to the Tap Room), but I don’t recall it even being available there when they released it last year.

That draught list blows everyone else in STL away. Are they offering they own beer/spirits yet?

  11. Kelly :

    Date: June 19, 2008 @ 5:08 pm

According to Jerad Gardner, one of their beer/spirits are available just yet. Spirits will be out very soon…possibly in the next month or so. But, they aren’t getting their lagering equipment until Sept.

  12. Kelly :

    Date: June 19, 2008 @ 5:08 pm

Um, that should be NONE of theirs (not one). Sorry.

OBERON!!!!!!! YES! I love that stuff…even for a session beer. Gonna pass on the Duchesse but (as I did tonight) gonna love on the O’Fallon 5 Day….

It may be hard for some folks to spot…catty corner to O’Malleys Irish Pub…you’ll see the big garage door first then the regular door to go inside. I’m so excited. We were up at the Duck tonight talking about when it was going to open. Looking forward to getting up there.

  16. Kelly :

The plan is to start making lagers. I’ll ask Jesse and Jerad and get back to you.

AND, in case you didn’t know. The bar is open tonight (Friday) at 4, kitchen opens at 6.

According to Sara Jones, those are the hours through 4th of July weekend. After that they will start opening for lunch. She’s not sure what the exact hours will be, but their website should be up after this weekend.

AND…Jesse said, “Currently we have 2 lagers lagering a Helles and Marzen.” So, there you go. I guess those are the ones that will be available in Sept. If I find out differently, I’ll let y’all know!
