I may be stealing a future post from Dave, but for those of you that don't really enjoy the combination try a stout sometime. A friend of mine has turned me onto the fact that a stout really helps to cut through the acidity in a red sauce and make for a very nice pairing.

Ya know, I really like ESB's with my pizza's. Homemade with a ton of toppings!

I prefer the delicate flavor and palate of a DIPA with my pizza

Then again, the pizza is just filler when i am drinking a good beer!

With a two sentence thread? I can go on for at least a couple of pages on this topic (which is why I have a blog - no one else would let me prattle on that long . . .). Thanks for the consideration all the same.

Cheers,

Dave

Gotta go with Scotty P on this one--IPA is my favorite combo with most pizza! And, that must be the reason why O'Fallon 5-Day has becoame so successful at pizza places while I was with O'Fallon--Dewey's, Black Thorn, PI, etc.

Although, with the spicy sauce at Black Thorn, a couple of knowledgable ladies pointed out to me that O'Fallon Smoked Porter goes perfectly (or a stout, for that matter).

Eating some leftover Pi pizza from last night right now and decided to go with a nice IPA that I picked up over at Bon Vivant today along with grabbing my stash of AlphaKing. It's Two-Brother's Heavy Handed IPA and it is tasty and damn good with the pizza. So Scotty good call, I second the IPA choice.

Im definately in the pale/IPA boat in terms of pizza and beer.

A good sausage/pepperoni pizza with SN Celebration ale is one of the greatest food/beer parings i have ever had.

My favorite beer/pizza combination is Bud Select with a Tombstone Pizza.

:o

Or maybe not.

My personal favorite is shelly's deluxe from fortell's and Unibroue Maudite. Something about the green peppers and bacon and that brown belgian strong ale.

I've had a 5-Day at Dewey's. Quite good. Haven't tried a stout, though; are we talking Oatmeal Stout, Imperial Stout, Dry Stout, Chocolate Stout, what?
