My bride and I split a growler of Schlafly Oktoberfest after dinner at Bottleworks. Followed that with an Odell St. Lupulin.

It's not often that I can get the bride to switch from her beloved APA, but the Oktoberfest was perfect for a night like tonight.

I think ill try to start posting as often as I'm reading these.
Dry dock brewing Belgian dark strong at their brewery. A little hot, but a great example of the style.
Dogfishhead punkin ale. 95 degrees outside even in denver, didn't feel quite right with this one. A good example again of the style but Schlafly's take makes me as excited about this beer as I am about bud select 55.
Odells levity amber. Solid go to beer. About the lightest ill go.
Stone ruination. God damn I forgot how solid this beer is. I could swim laps in the hoppy goodness. 22 ozs just doesn't do it for me, next time ill request an above ground swimming pool of this stuff. I think ill taste hops on my tongue until Tuesday...

Had my last 2 New Glarus Dancing Man Wheats, and a couple of Left Land O-fests. I love this time of year. Can still find my Hefe's, and my second fav style, Marzen's. Life is good! :D

past few nights...
Struise Black Albert - It was sour, metallic, and tasted nothing like what I expected. Thumbs down.

Rotten Apple (god the service there sucks)
Lagunitas A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale - Best I've had from Lagunitas! Really great citrisy Ipa.
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot - Lost some hops, I liked it better fresher.

Itap
Alright Already Amber - omg. Everyone loved this! Wouldn't it be great if this was "mass produced?"
O'Fallon O'Town Brown - Great brown ale.

On Friday, I was at a bar in Chicago that had Goose Island Matilda on tap. I was there for a rehearsal dinner, so the beer was free. Drinking that stuff all night does not leave a man in good shape.

Oskar Blues - Gordon. I had been wanting to try this for a long time, and I like it. Something about the sweetness of this beer reminds me a lot of Racer 5. I'd like to try the two side-by-side.

Modus Hoperandi- I think I liked this better than Caldera and it was cheaper for the six pack which is a plus.

I think you think that because it is their weakest offering - amber ale 4.4%

Stopped in the Tap Room this afternoon and had a pint of the India Brown Ale. Damn this is a tasty brew. I would love to see this in bottles. I wish I would've brought my growler because I would be having one right now.

Finishing off a bottle of Hop Stoopid and loving every ounce of it. You can smell this hopped-up biatch from across the room. Amazing.

3 Floyds Blackheart - This was absolutely putrid. Overly sweet like an aged barleywine (this was bought fresh from the brewery last weekend). Astringent hop character with a lingering bitter bite on the back of the tongue that seemed to last forever. Aroma was pleasent with a slight earthy tone and a nice flower note. No more of this for me.

Goose Island Red Felt - Absolutely astonishing American Amber Ale. Toffee and caramel with american citrus hops heavily present in the nose. A bit of pine on the back end. Clear with a frothy, slightly off white head and lacing that pasted the entire glass. I wish I had bought a few more of these beauties.

SN Torpedo - i really like this as a "go to" IPA when i'm not feeling that adventurous at the store. I'm really digging the bitterness qualities and flavors of magnum hops.

Home Brew - "Simbus" IIPA - After 2 months in the bottle, this IIPA using only Simcoe and Columbus hops has really become my favorite brew so far. It's amber in color and the hops currently blend nicely with the malt flavor. ABV is around 8.5% I only have 6 bombers left so i think i'm going to have to brew it again before too long!

Sounds like you'll enjoy this year's HOP in the City beer...

New Holland Ichabod Pumpkin Ale- to me it is hard to find the pumpkin in this, the taste is very muted. O'Fallon's offering is just right and cheaper a sixer.

First, Stone Smoked Porter. It was OK, but I had to search for any smoke in there.

Next, I had a Harpoon Leviathan. WHOA. Huge, huge hoppiness, and a delicious beer. I was sad that it was an 8 oz pour though!

Also had an Oskar Blues Dale. Bleh. I wasn't impressed.

Schlafly Pumpkin Ale- This is defiantly more bolder in taste that a few of the other pumpkin ales this season I have tasted. When I poured it into a pint glass it is a dark auburn and you can smell the cinnamon and nutmeg big time, the taste is like pumpkin pie. I think this is a sipper, especially around a fall bon fire.

generally agree, but creme brulee was terrible, not sure what they were shooting for but tastes like cheap butterscotch candy...yuk

...by the way if you like creme brulee let me know and I've got a few bottles with your name on them
