Would there be any interest in a club sponsored BJCP tasting exam? We have an offer from a local national judge to proctor the exam if we can fill it. We need to have 12 seats for it. July 2017 would be the earliest possible date to schedule it. If we have enough interest we can also do a prep course in advance of the exam. I know a few of you have been judging local competitions so I wanted to throw this out there to see what sort of interest there might be. Just reply if interested.

1. Paul (retake)
2. Amy (possible retake)
3. Dan
4. Sean
5. Mike
6. Tim Hayes (retake)
7. Steve Agnew
8. Eric Smith

I'm planning on taking the exam in K.C. in May, but by July 2017 (or after) I would quite likely be wanting to take it again. So count me in.

I'm 100% down for this.

If you need to fill a spot, I would like to take it again to improve my score.

Halfway there. If we get a couple more commits I'll see if we can confirm this.

To confirm something that was discussed at the last meeting, Chris Rahn is hosting a tasting exam in Waterloo, IL on Sat. Feb. 11, 2017. I will be taking that one instead of the one in KC next month. You can contact Chris at rahn65@gmail.com to get on the list for that one.

Hi guys. Just wanted to let you know that Chris Rahn has scheduled another exam for us in September 2017. No specific date yet, but we are definitely on the book for it. Anyone who wants to take it who is not a BJCP judge currently will need to pass the online exam. That is good for a year so don't take it yet. I'll work on getting a prep course together and starting that next spring/summer if there is interest in that.

Interested in the prep course for the online exam.

Hi guys and gals,

Since Chris has a class scheduled in February as well his idea is to combine the prep classes and start this fall. I know that would mean a lot of you are taking a class well in advance of the exam. Does anyone have a huge problem with that? Combining the groups makes a lot more sense as it's one class to teach. I will get more info to you as soon as I have it.

Chris actually has seats for the February exam and can likely get us all in on that. Is everyone still interested? Prep class will likely start in the next couple months.

FYI, the exam is going to be held at Stubborn German in Waterloo.

I'm still interested. Do you have any idea on details on the class? Day and time perhaps?

Nothing set in stone yet. It won't be a single day class, more like a weekly thing for a couple months. Probably Sunday if I have my choice.

If anyone else is interested we will be starting the practice sessions October 2nd. Sessions will be every Sunday at 6pm at Stubborn German. October 9th will be an off week, but it will be every Sunday after that. 11 weeks total, ending on 12/18. Please let me know if you want in.

I think the February exam is full, but you can e-mail Chris Rahn and ask. rahn65@gmail.com
