Hey everyone just thought I'd send out a little update/reminder on the BCS Black Friday Launch day. As you can probably assume our wholesalers will be working very hard to deliver the product between Wednesday and Friday of next week but we are asking retailers to please launch everything out on that Friday.

With that being said two of the BCS variants will probably not be out, Barleywine & Backyard. Due to the issues with the TTB we could not get these two products registered quick enough but have no fear we are still receiving product but it may not be until a little later. As soon as I hear something I'll send out a post so everyone will have a heads up on when they can go buy (rumor has it Backyard is killer!!!).

I hope everyone has a great holiday and if you have awesome BCS pictures whether it be lines of people at retail waiting for the product or you enjoying the BCS send it to me or hit me up on Twitter. Just look for the sad pregnant lady that will be waiting for February to enjoy her BCS, thanks everyone!

Maybe Lukas is mistaken?

"On Friday, November 29, we will be releasing Goose Island Bourbon County Stout and its variants"

I feel sorry for the retailers. Its gonna be a crazy day filled with Black Friday/BCBS pandemonium!!!

technically they should be receiving Coffee, which is a variant.

So glad we'll be in STL for Thanksgiving. Ohio has a 12% ABV cap on beer so none of the BCS lineup will be released there. One 4-pack each of Coffee BCS and regular BCS will set me up very nicely to have a happy wife this winter.

I'm curious to see if just the specialty stores will get these or if we will be able to buy them off the shelf at say a Schnucks. I heard that last year's batch was still on the shelves for a bit after the release but this year everything seems harder to find with more craft beer fans springing up throughout the city. Do you think these will be pretty hard to find?

Considering that BCS is going to be available nationally this year we won't see as much as we did last year so it's not going to last. Have fun hunting next Friday.

I would love to see cases of it stacked up at grocery stores and drugstores like in Chicago but I don't think we'll be getting that much with the whole national rollout thing.
It seems like GI is going more to Schnucks these days, which is positive in a way, but negative to stores that have always supported craft beer like TWCP. I think it's shitty that Paul at TWCP got so little of the GI sister beers and will probably be fucked over for BCS too. It's hard for me to believe that all these grocery stores are selling so much moar of the higher end GIs than TWCP...but it's not like I really know anything. I just keep repeating to myself that beer is a business and carry on. (Also, if you see any BCS let me know. )

new update on the variants...so to my surprise Barleywine will be available next Friday as well. I have confirmed with all three wholesalers in the area that they received that along with regular BCS. We are still waiting on Coffee but GI has told me it is shipping to us early next week so keep fingers crossed!!! Also the amounts are very small this year so many accounts will only have a few on hand. The other thing to keep in mind folks is there was probably more in the market last year than there should ever be but there is more in the market than there was two years ago so still a win. The idea with these brands is to make sure there is demand and desire and to do that we need to keep the amounts small. And last year we only really had BCS and a very small amount of Coffee (not even counting Cherry because it was so small) so this year while there may only be a few cases of regular going out we do have other variants available which is really exciting.

You see, you only want it because you can't have it. They produce a lot of 312. When's the last time you wanted one of those?

Good point.
Honestly we got so much BCS last year, I don't know why any of you people want it now.

The last time I wanted a 312 was the last time it tasted like BCS.

They should do 312 aged in Barrels previously used for BCS. Like Uberon.

If worse comes to worst I'm sure people who got some extra Side Project bottles can always trade for BCS since it is a nationwide project now. Not idea, especially with shipping, but people are definitely clamoring for SP.

Most breweries--when you ask them about this--talk about limited production capability, we'll delivery more once we expand facilities, we'd love to get the rares into more hands, etc. I guess it's refreshing that you're honest about the fact that supply is artificially throttled at distribution in order to perpetuate the release-day craze.

But I still think there's a false assumption at work here. I buy just as much widely-distributed, non-craze beer as anything. Its not just about availability, its about taste and quality.
