While some of the closer breweries in St. Louis have gotten plenty of love on STL Hops, I’m ashamed to say that we haven’t spoken a lot about Excel Brewery out of Breese, IL. It’s a shame because they’re producing some damn good beer. While a lot of people (understandably) love their Eastside IPA, I think their Carlyle Lake Lager should get a bit more love.
Well, a year has passed and to celebrate Excel is throwing a big party this Saturday, September 14th beginning at 2PM. Tickets are $30.00 and will not only get you into the party to enjoy 10 four ounce pours of beer, along with food and music, but also a 750ml bottle of a very special anniversary beer, the Ryeday the 13th.
This 11% monster is described as, “aged six months in Templeton Rye Whiskey barrels and contains notes of caramel, vanilla, coconut, oak and warming alcohol.” Some of the other beers on tap will include:
- Ryeday the 13th
- Un-oaked Ryeday
- Carlyle Lake Lager
- Excel Citra
- Eastside IPA
- Eastside IPA on cask w/ Cenntenial hops and Habanero peppers
- Shoal Creek Wheat
- Shoal Creek Oktoberfest
- Shoal Creek Irish Stout
- Highway 50 DIPA
- Darkside IPA
If you want to buy tickets to this event you can purchase them online here. Sounds like an awesome line-up from an awesome brewery. Congrats to Excel on their first year!
