Excel Brewery began in 2012 with a few easy drinking styles that never quite hooked drinkers. It’s not that the beers were bad, in fact they were well made. But for whatever reason they just didn’t take off.
Rod Burguiere took over as head brewer at Excel recently and decided that not only did the beer need a refresh, but also the branding. To launch this new look and these new beers, Excel partnered with Heavy Riff Brewing to do a tap takeover this Saturday, June 21st at 5PM and will be featuring all of these new beers:
5% ABV. 15 IBU’s. 3.7 SRM.
All-malt Munich Style Helles Lager. A classic, easy drinking German beer named after Excel’s founding father, Edward “Lefty” Meier. Draft only; bottles early July.
7% ABV. 60 IBU’s. 5 SRM.
Intensely hoppy with notes of lemon zest, grapefruit and pine. A West Coast Style India Pale Ale brewed on the East Side.

Loads of roasted barley and dark caramel malts combine with citrusy American hops in this one-of-a-kind beer from Breese’s South Side.

Extremely hoppy and refreshing, this unfiltered American wheat beer is brewed and dry hopped exclusively with Amarillo hops. Draft only; bottles early July.
