Beers of the World Dinner at Neruda

9:03 am Beer Events

Some of you may already know Joe Billhartz, but if you don’t he’s almost singularly responsible for the craft beer scene in Southern Illinois.  He previously worked for Corral Liquor as their beer buyer, so for may years he worked diligently to bring some awesome beers to our area.  Joe is now working for Specialty Distributors helping to do his part to bring even more to us.  Why all of this info on Joe?  Well first, he’s awesome, but secondly he’s helping host a beer dinner at Neruda in Edwardsville, IL.

Course 1
Gaffel Kolsch, Germany
Green Bean and Sweet Red Pepper Salad

Course 2
Erdinger Hefe-Weizen, Germany

The only catch about attending this beer dinner is that it’s tonight.  (Sorry for the late notice, I just found out about this one myself.) There is a reception at 6:30 p.m. and dinner begins at 7:00 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $60 per person plus tax and gratuity. You can make reservations by calling Neruda at 618-659-9866.

Thanks for the great plug Mike! This one came together pretty fast and kind of under the radar. I thought the night turned out real well. I can’t take much of the credit though. Chef Rick, Jeremy, & the gang did a great job with the pairings & Madt, Kurt, and the rest of the staff were fantastic hosts. This was my first event with them, and I’m looking forward to more in the future. They are planning 2 more dinners for this summer-the next one will feature O’Fallon (Derek, are you doing this? I hope so). Hopefully I will be involved in the 3rd one. I’ll pass on info as I get it

    Hey Joe,
Glad to hear it went well!

Also glad to hear they’re doing a beer dinner with us! We received a call a while back, but I’ve had trouble getting a hold of anyone there to follow up. Please pass my number along to them, if you would. I’d love to set one up with them! Cell 314-941-2863.
