Morbier is pretty mild as funky cheeses go - it sounds almost like it was off, but I didn't taste it, and can't imagine the Merch (especially if Simon was involved) serving anything off.

There's certainly a whole new world of flavors out there in fine cheese, some of which are still too much for me. I find myself challenged by a lot (not all) of the soft, washed rind cow's milk cheeses. For some reason cheeses made from sheep or goat's milk rarely produce flavors I find too funky, but good old cow's milk? Yowza, can that produce some FUNK.

I hope you enjoy your cheese journey as much as your beer journey. The Merch in Clayton is definitely the place to go for quality, interesting, artisinal cheeses that are stored and cut properly.
