I’m sure most of you are aware, but New Belgium Brewery makes a lot of different beers. Sure they’re known for their very popular Fat Tire, but that’s a small portion of their entire beer portfolio. To help introduce more people to the New Belgium’s ever increasing beer line-up, they’ve create a new event they’re calling Clips of Faith.

Featuring over 20 different short films and 18 different beer styles, the Clips of Faith festival is there to showcase not only the ingenuity of New Belgium Brewery but also some creative filmmakers.  Clips of Faith is a one night only event, taking place this Friday, June 25th from 7PM-10PM at Soulard Market Park.  This is also a fundraiser, so all proceeds for this event will be donated to Trailnet.org.

stable_128x126.jpg If you were paying close attention to the post about The Stable’s Second Anniversary party, you would have noticed that you’ll have over 36 different draught beers to drink.  If you’ve been paying even closer attention, you’d know that The Stable actually only has 24 taps.   Not any more.

I’m happy to announce that The Stable has added 12 more draught beers to their already impressive line-up, to bring the total to 36.  To celebrate the occasion, they’re going to break out some awesome draught beers.  On Thursday, June 17th, starting at 6PM, here’s just just a few items that’ll be available:

  • Bell’s Hopslam

  • Amalgamated Rum Aged Porter
  • New Holland Envious

I’m sure most of these won’t last long, so if you want to try them, I’d make sure to get out there tomorrow.

I love a good acronym.  The problem with an acronym is if you have to repeat what it means each time you use said acronym for an audience that may not be aware of what it means.  But, I think I’m  PIADAG will be my my new acronym of choice.

What does it mean, you ask?  Pour It in A DAmn Glass. Too often am I seeing great craft beer get somewhat squandered when people drink it out of a bottle.  I don’t know how often I’ll continue using my addition to the world of beer acronyms, abbreviations, and initialisms, but it’ll be fun to try.

This brings us around to a very special event that Schlafly will be holding on June 10th, beginning at 6:30PM at the Schlafly Bottleworks.  Schlafly and Spiegelau Glassware will be teaming up to put on the first craft beer and specialty glass tasting event.

For $30 (or $25 if you’re a SIP Club member) you’ll get beer, snacks and your very own 4-piece Spiegelau Beer Connoisseur Glassware Set which normally has a retail value $49.95.  I can tell you that one of the glasses included in this glassware set is a tulip glass I received what at the Craft Brewers Conference in Chicago.  It could be one of the finest glasses I’ve ever owned.

So, if PIADAG is important to you, you may want to hop on the chance to attend this very special event.  Tickets can be purchased here.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past four years, you know that the 4th annual St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival is coming up in June. This festival was started to not only honor the history of brewing in St. Louis but to also showcase the talent of the area’s brewers.

This year’s festival will be featuring three different sessions will take place on June 11th and 12th. If the 20,000 people this festival attracts each year wasn’t impressive enough, I think addition of several new local breweries will make 2010 the best festival yet.

  • The grounds open on Friday, June 11th for a session that runs from 7 – 11 p.m. and again Saturday, June 12, from 1 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 11 p.m. Tickets for the Friday evening session and Saturday events cost $30 per person ($35 day of the events, so get your tickets now).
  • Restaurants participating in this year’s Festival are all from the St. Louis Originals group. Companion Bakery, Harvest, LoRusso’s Cucina, SqWires and Vin de Set have all created dishes designed to compliment the more than 70 beer styles available at the event.
  • Not only will you be able to taste beer from 14 local breweries, but this year you’ll also have the chance to sample beers from a number of area homebrewers.
  • This year’s Heritage Festival Beer recipe is David Roesch and Joe Orsa’s Bavarian Hefeweisen.  If you’re not familiar, this recipe will be brewed by a number of local breweries to be served at the festival.

Last year’s festival provided for some amazing weather and some amazing beer.  If you haven’t taken part in the Heritage Festival, I fully recommend it.  I’ve had some great times at the Saturday afternoon session, and I’m sure this year will be just as much fun.
