Maybe you’re like me and you missed the Schlafly Fresh Hop Ale Festival, you wanted to try all of those delicious fresh hop beers but you weren’t able to attend. Well, luckily there are second chances in life.

Tonight, Monday, October 19th, Square One Brewery will be holding a release party for their Hop Harvest Ale.  They’ll have $1 off all pints, all day long and then from 5PM-8PM they’ll be raffling off prizes such as logo wear, gift certificates and pint glasses. The final raffle  of the night will be for your choice of three growlers of beer or a bottle of their Spirits of St. Louis spirits.

This is your chance to join the party of the release of the Favorite Beer at the Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival.

Back in March, I let you know about what will probably be the definitive book about brewing in St. Louis, St. Louis Brews: 200 Years of Brewing in St. Louis 1809-2009. Well, the book is now available, and first off, you MUST pick this up.  It’s wonderfully detailed and full of amazing photographs from throughout the past 200 years of brewing in St. Louis.

This upcoming Monday, October 19 from 7PM-9PM, will provide you with the chance to get a signed copy of St. Louis Brews by one of the book’s authors Henry Herbst at the Schlafly Bottleworks.  I don’t know if any of you have been following along with Henry’s condition, but things aren’t going great.  But Henry is going to fight through hell and high water to attend the event.

If you have the chance to attend, I’d love for everyone to stop by and thank Henry for this book and have a chance to meet a legend of the St. Louis beer scene.

The Wine and Cheese Place in Rock Hill will be holding their first Beer and Cheese Festival on October 17th from 1PM-4PM. It’s a spooky time of year and so The Stable brings back the Monsters of Beer festival.  On October 24th from 1PM-4PM, your $25 dollar ticket allows you to taste fifteen different 3oz pours of some monster beers with a commemorative glass. Only 175 tickets are being sold for this event, so you should buy them as soon as you can from The Stable or The Rotten Apple.

I don’t have the beer list for this event just yet, but I’m hoping to have it soon.

Grey Eagle and Anheuser-Busch will be hosting a Gourmet Beer Dinner at Pujols 5 on Monday, October 12 at 6:30PM.  This will be a five course dinner featuring Anheuser brewmaster George Reisch.  Tickets will be $35 and are available by calling 314-878-6767.  See the image below for more details about the dinner.

Ashleigh Arnold is a busy woman.  Not only does she post on STL Hops’ forums as Beerwench, but she bartends at the International Tap House and helps to brew beer at The Stable.

Well, tonight at 6PM her worlds collide, Amalgamated Brewing will be serving, at iTAP, a Helles that she brewed.  Ashley describes a Helles as such, “strong, sometimes slightly sweet and can be compared to the taste of a Pilsner, just less hoppy and more malty.”

Not only will the Helles be available, but The Stable will be providing free pizza as well.  Sounds like the perfect way to start the weekend.
