Little history lesson for you, St. Louis was incorporated as a city in 1822.  Twelve years before that Jacques Delassas de St. Vrain opened a brewery in St. Louis.   While de St. Vrain’s brewery may have burned down two years later, the history of brewing in Missouri over the past 201 years has certainly become long and storied.

To help celebrate that history of brewing, the always eager guys at 2nd Shift Brewing are putting on their first beer festival in New Haven, MO which they’ve dubbed the 2nd Shift and Friend 201st Annual Beerfest. The most important part of that title, with the exception of the “Beerfest” part, is “Friends.”

Being a craft brewery means being in a community of brewers that works together to create some great beer. So, 2nd Shift invited out a bunch of great breweries to have a party on July 9th from 12-5PM.  Here’s a list of breweries who plan to attend:

Tickets for this event, which can be purchased from Brown Paper Tickets, will cost you $30 in advance and $35 day of. Additional information including address and phone number can also be found via the link to Brown Paper Tickets.

If you’re really looking for the full 2nd Shift experience, they’re also offering a limited number of overnight packages that will include dinner, drinks, a room, and breakfast.  The fee for this package also includes usage of the golf course, swimming pool, and tennis courts.

The cost of the overnight packages, which is in ADDITION to the $30/$35 beerfest ticket, will cost you $100 per person.  I’ve been told that almost all of these rooms have filled up, so if you’re interested make sure to call 573-237-3421 as soon as possible.

This may be one of the most unique festivals that Missouri has to offer, I can’t wait to attend.
