STLHops_ShadedLooking for a chance to help out during the STL Hops Eighth Anniversary party and also attend?  Well, you’re in luck, because I’m looking for a few hard-working souls (this won’t be hard-work) to help out at the STL Hops Anniversary Party.

You’ll work a shift and get to enjoy part (or maybe even all) of the party. I’ll need people for set up, during the party, and for break down.

It’s as simple as that. If you’re interested, please email me (mike@stlhops.com) with a subject line of STL Hops Volunteer. I only need a few people, so it’ll probably be first come, first serve.

Stay tuned for additional information about the party on next Saturday along with a chance to win a pair of tickets!

Today, from 4PM to 6PM the Wine and Cheese Place in Clayton will hold its weekly Friday beer tasting in which they will be pouring: Alpine Hoppy Birthday, Pabst Old Tankard, Uinta Ready Set Gose, and Anchor Go West IPA. Additional information can be found at their blog.

Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton continues its Friday Night Flight of the Week tonight from 7-9PM featuring: Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion, Green Flash Cosmic Ristretto, Mikkeller / Hillfarmstead Wheat is the New Hops, Ommegang Shadow Boxer, and Avery Raja DIPA. $12 gets you five 5oz pours of these beers. They will also be launching Earthbound Brewing Co on Saturday, February 27th from 2-5pm.

Today, from 4PM to 6PM the Wine and Cheese Place on New Ballas will continue their Friday beer tastings to celebrate the store’s expanded selection. They will be sampling Founders Mango Magnifico and Elysian The Immortal Ipa. Additional information can be found at their blog

Also on Wednesday, the Naked Vine holds a beer tasting from 5-7PM. This tasting will give you a chance to try some of Naked Vine’s offerings and is absolutely free. Check out their Twitter feed for more updates.

Once again, if you’re a retail shop, bar, restaurant, brewery or distributor and want me to list your tasting, make sure to email me at mike@stlhops.com.

quincy-streetIt’s difficult to believe, but Quincy Street Bistro‘s will be putting on their sixth (?!) Kegs and Eggs event this Saturday, March 5th at beginning at 9AM.  For those of you who love beer and breakfast, this event is not to be missed.

Not only will you be enjoying some of the best beers in the area, but you’ll also enjoy a delicious menu of breakfast items (the greatest of all food items.) Here’s a look at the menu:

MacDowell’s MacGriddle–French toast bread pudding, sausage patty, scrambled eggs, maple smoked cheddar, and house tots
Fancy Frito Pie–House fritos, pork chili verde, soft poached eggs, black bean, queso fresco
Scrapple Stack with hashbrowns, pancake bread, blueberries, whipped maple syrup
Salmon Bagel Thing–House cured and smoked salmon, grated egg whites, cooked yolk, red onion, tomato, capers, dill cream cheese
St. Paul Slinger–Country ham egg foo yung, egg foo yung gravy, sweet chili sauce, choice of toast, served on top of house tots

Sides– Sausage, Tots, Toast (white/wheat), BACON!, and Sunny eggs

And, hot off the presses, here’s the beer list as it stands today:

  • Perennial – Sump
  • Goose Island – 2015 Bourbon County Stout
  • Civil Life – Big Year American Brown Ale
  • 2nd Shift – Chaotic Insecure Delusions
  • 4 Hands – Boysenberry Saison
  • Modern Brewery – Citrapolis IPA
  • Urban Chestnut – H.M.S. English IPA
  • Tallgrass – Sweet Tooth

This event runs from 9am-12PM and are no reservations, you just show up. My recommendation is to get there at 9AM, because the place fills up quick. And it should, this event is always great.

cellarbration IISome of us nerdy people like to hold on to beers. We keep them all nice and cozy in our little cellars waiting for that perfect opportunity to crack them open.

But sometimes the perfect opportunity is to just head to your cellar and pop something open for your own enjoyment. Well, Llywelyn’s Pub agrees with that idea and wants to throw a little party to pop open some bottles from their cellar.

That Saturday, March 5th, starting at 9:30AM, Llywelyn’s in Webster is throwing a Cellarbration. They’re going to be busting out some cool bottles from their cellar for you to purchase and enjoy. (And if you haven’t had a chance to try their new brunch, you should, it’s pretty delicious.)

Bottles will include Goose Island BCS variants, Firestone Walker variants, some of the Goose Sour Sisters, and some other rare goodies.  The 4 Hands Apple Brandy Woodsman will be on draft along with the Perennial Jameson Whiskey collab.

So, no need to bust into your cellar when Llywelyn’s will do it for you.
