CraftBeerCellarLogoSing it with me: Sour beers are awesome!

Wait, you’re telling me this isn’t a song? It should be. Because sour beers are awesome. And to celebrate the awesomeness of sour beers Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton is throwing a sour beer tasting this Sunday, October 12th from 12PM to 3PM.

Much like a Christopher Nolan movie, this is a multi-layered affair that will leave you excited and feeling amazed. One layer is a free tasting involving breweries that include:

  • Jolly Pumpkin
  • Alpha Brewing
  • New Belgium
  • Boulevard
  • Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck

But for the ballers among us, there is also a limited VIP experience (that will run you $40) that includes “private tastings from some special breweries, a free tasting glass, 2 free pours on some uber-rare sour beers, and 10% off store-wide.” Here’s a list of the VIP breweries:

  • Perennial Artisan Ales
  • Santa Fe Brewing Co
  • New Belgium
  • Boulevard

The private tastings will include “educational information from each of the breweries and special beer samples that are only available to VIPs.” Tickets for the VIP experience are available in store or over the phone (314-222-2444)

And if that’s not enough to hook you, CBC will have Tilquin Gueuze, Evil Twin / Crooked Stave Ryan and the Gosling, and New Belgium Wild Dubbel on tap as well. What a way to spend a Sunday, don’t miss out.

fall-fest-2014-PDFI can always get behind a beer festival that not only allows you to have a good time, but to also to some good. The Saturday, October 11th, Global Brew Tap House in Edwardsville throws their third annual Fall Beer Festival.

The event, which runs from 11AM-7PM will feature over 30 different craft beers including Anderson Valley Goze, Schalfly Pumpkin, Founders Breakfast Stout, Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, and Abita Pecan Harvest. At 2PM they will also be tapping three special casks from Tallgrass which include Ethos, 8 Bit, and Zombie Monkey Banana Hammock (porter with chocolate and banana).

All of the proceeds from this event benefit the local chapter of Toys for Tots. Last year Global Brew donated over $2,000 worth of toys that helped to benefit area children. Do some good, drink some beer, and head out to Edwardsville City Park for the Fall Beer Festival this Saturday.
