OLIO3Jester King Brewery is blowing up in St. Louis. Not only do they have a special tasting tonight at Craft Beer Cellar, but they’re also working with one of the best restaurants in St. Louis to put on a very special beer dinner.

Ben Poremba’s restaurant Olio has gotten some crazy good accolades and they’re turning out some awesome dishes. It only makes sense that they work with an amazing brewery like Jester King to put on a special event.

These two juggernauts of creativity obviously make a perfect pairing for a beer dinner. So, I’m happy to let you all know that on Sunday, August 24th beginning at 8PM, Olio will be hosting a dinner featuring a special line up of Jester King beers.

The menu hasn’t quite been finalized, but it will be a toast to summer featuring wood-fired grilled proteins along with fresh summer ingredients.  But, I do have the full line-up of beers:

  • Le Petite Prince (Farmhouse Table Beer)
  • Provenance (Lemon and Lime Saison)
  • Hibernal Dichotomous (Saison brewed with Lavender, Spearmint, and Rosemary, and refermented with Watermelon Juice)
  • Snorkel (Farmhouse Ale brewed with Oyster Mushrooms and Smoked Sea Salt)
  • Atrial Rubicite (Barrel-Aged Sour Ale Refermented with Raspberries)

Cost of the four course dinner is $65 per person and reservations can be made by calling 314-932-1088. You can also just show up and enjoy some pours of the beers for the nominal price of $15.

llywelyns-243x300While it’s fun to be on the hunt to try and find that special or fun beer, it can be pretty tiring. Well, you can stop running all around town and visit Llywelyn’s Pub in Webster Groves, Central West End, and St. Charles to see something cool on tap. Llywelyn’s is continuing their program that they’ve been calling “A Brew You Never Knew.”

Each Wednesday, Llywelyn’s will feature a single beer on draught that may have been overlooked or in some cases is the only draught version of that beer in town. It’ll be a chance to re-visit an old favorite or even discover something you’ve never had before.

This week Llyweyln’s in Webster will feature Odell Dr. Acula on tap. While the St. Charles location will be serving up the Boulevard’s Two Jokers Double Wit on draft. And Central West End will be featuring New Holland’s Dragon Milk. So, if you’re looking for something special without all of the lists and missed opportunities, make sure to stop into Llywelyn’s in St. Charles, Central West End, or Webster tonight!

Five Bistro is easily the best restaurant on the Hill. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see them put on a beer dinner with one of the best breweries in St. Louis: Schlafly.

This Thursday, August 21st, Five will be putting on a five course beer dinner featuring five different beers from Schlafly. This dinner will also feature an appearance from Five’s first sous chef, Cory Shupe. This dinner will cost $60 per person and reservations are required. You can reserve your seat by calling 314-773-5553.

Here’s a look at the menu.

A while back I was peering at the cooler shelves at my favorite watering hole and I was amazed to see beers on the shelves that I never thought we’d see in St. Louis in quite some time. Anchorage Brewing Company, Jolly Pumpkin, Upright Brewing, and of course Jester King Brewery out of Austin, TX.

All of these brands arrived in St. Louis after Shelton Brothers returned to Missouri. Jester King is celebrating this new market by throwing a special event at Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton. Tomorrow, August 20th from 5-7PM, CBC and Jester King will throw an one-night-only tasting event featuring six amazing (and impossible to find in STL) beers:

  • Atrial Rubicite
  • Provenance Orange & Grapefruit
  • Le Petit Prince
  • Detritivore
  • Bière de Miel
  • Das Überkind

The event is free to attend, but samples will cost you $2 each or you can try all six beers for $10.50. You can begin purchasing tickets for the samples beginning today and phone orders are accepted at 314-222-2444.

CBC is also 5% off store-wide tomorrow if you mention you saw this on STL Hops. This is a very special event you don’t want to miss out on.
