Sour beers are not for everybody.  In fact, the first time many people try them they don’t even believe they’re beers. But if you’re a sour beer fan, more than likely you’re a raving lunatic looking to try every sour beer that comes your way.

On Sunday, July 20th from 1PM to 5PM, Bigelo’s Bistro in Edwardsville, IL will be throwing the fourth annual Sour Sunday. Mark Pruitt has put together a great list of sour and funky beers on draught for the day including Perennial Regalia, New Belgium La Folie, and Goose Island Lolita. There will also be bottle pours for sale of Boulevard Love Child #4, New Belgium Le Terrior, Goose Island: Halia, Gillian, Juliet, and Madame Rose.

The full kitchen at Bigelo’s won’t be running on Sunday, but Mark will be offering up Carbonnade a la Flamande (a delicious Belgian beef and onion stew), mini pulled pork sliders, and their house made potato chips and sweet potato chips, and Nathan’s Fire Roasted Corn Salad.

And because Mark is a beer geek at heart, he’s encouraging you to bring out those sour beers that you’ve been carefully holding onto in your cellar to share. This may be called Sour Sunday, but it certainly sounds pretty sweet to me.

itap-beercampI’m not much of a camper. Growing up, my Dad’s idea of camping involved a few extension cords, box fans, and a small TV. An evening without air conditioning was our idea of “roughing it.”

Needless to say, I’m pretty soft. So, Sierra Nevada‘s idea of Beer Camp is definitely intriguing to me. Twelve different collaborations with twelve different breweries? This is my idea of camping.

While there are some 12-packs that arrived in our area, it’s pretty limited. You’re probably not going to have much of a chance in finding one. But what if you had the opportunity to try all twelve of these beers in one spot? Well, this Thursday, July 17th at 6PM you will.

For one-night-only, the International Tap House in Soulard will be tapping all twelve Sierra Nevada Beer Camp collaborations.  Here’s a run down of what’s being tapped and when:

6pm: West Coast
Ballast Point & Sierra Nevada: Electric Ray
Ninkasi Brewing & Sierra Nevada : Double Latte
Firestone Walker & Sierra Nevada: Torpedo Pilsner
Russian River & Sierra Nevada: Yvan the Great

7pm: Midwest
Oskar Blues & Sierra Nevada: CANfusion
New Glarus & Sierra Nevada: There and Back
Bell’s & Sierra Nevada: Maillard’s Odyssey
3 Floyds & Sierra Nevada: Chico King

8pm: East Coast
Asheville Brewers Alliance & Sierra Nevada: Tater Ridge
Allagash Brewing & Sierra Nevada: Myron’s Walk
Cigar City & Sierra Nevada: Yonder Bock
Victory Brewing & Sierra Nevada: Alt Route

All beers will be sold in flights of four (5oz) for $12 and tickets for each session will go on sale at 5PM night-of at iTAP Soulard. Air conditioning and awesome beer? Sign me up for camp.
