4handsOne of the things that we were missing in St. Louis for quite some time was special releases of beer. We definitely had some cool beers coming out, but there wasn’t special events put on for these releases. Some people like the low-key beer releases, but I’m a fan of the special release events. It not only highlights the brewery, but also helps to promote our vibrant beer scene.

Luckily, 4 Hands Brewing agrees with me and is throwing a special event this Sunday, March 2nd to release their the 2nd installment in their barrel-aged saison series, the Cuvee Diable. According to 4 Hands owner Kevin Lemp the Diable “is the brother beer to Cuvee Ange, Cuvee Diable is a farmhouse saison aged in Cabernet barrels for 10 months with tart cherries.”

Because this is such a limited release this beer will ONLY be available at the brewery, it will not see a release in the retail market. If you want a chance for this beer, it will be sold beginning at 12PM at 4 Hands Brewing. They will be selling bottles for $14.99 (limit of six per person) along with two different options to enjoy it on draft:

Draft Option #1 = 16 ounce pour and a 16 ounce stemmed glass for $14.99 – keep the glass
Draft Option #2 = 12 ounce pour for $6.00

If you want a chance at this beer, don’t miss out, be there on Sunday.

quincy-streetA lot has taken place for Quincy Street Bistro‘s head chef Rick Lewis since the last Kegs and Eggs event. Not only did the St. Louis Post-Dispatch named him Chef of the Year in 2013, but he also made the list of semifinalists for the James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year award.

Needless to say, Chef Rick Lewis is probably the hottest chef in St. Louis right now. If you haven’t had a chance to try some of his delicious home-style cuisine, you’re missing out. If you’re looking for a good excuse to visit, there is no better excuse than attending the third Kegs and Eggs event that’s taking place on Saturday, March 8th from 9AM to 11AM.

Chef Rick Lewis has created some special dishes that will fill your belly (right before 4 Hands Brewing Lupulin Carnival, no less) and will give you a chance to try some of his awesome creations. Here’s the menu:

sq1r-y-cropped-small-web-view-150x150Time flies when you’re brewing beer.  Square One Brewery and Distillery is turning eight years old and plans on celebrating by throwing a party today, Wednesday, February 26th beginning at 4PM.

Square One will be throwing quite the shindig by offering up free giveaways, appetizers and drink specials during the party. Titillating, isn’t it?

But the fun doesn’t stop there, they also will be featuring Barrel Aged Barley Wine, (a 2012 vintage Barley Wine which has spent the last 12 months in a bourbon barrel), Barrel Aged Septangential (their 2013, 7th Anniversary Lager, which has also spent the last 12 months in a bourbon barrel) and Ochofabuloso (their 8th Anniversary Ale, an American dark, dry-hopped IPA.)

Do me a favor, just don’t try and have eight glasses of Ochofabuloso today, OK?

llywelyns-243x300While it’s fun to be on the hunt to try and find that special or fun beer, it can be pretty tiring. Well, you can stop running all around town and visit Llywelyn’s Pub in Webster Groves and St. Charles (and also now in Wildwood!) to see something cool on tap. Llywelyn’s is continuing their program that they’ve been calling “A Brew You Never Knew.”

Each Wednesday, Llywelyn’s will feature a single beer on draught that may have been overlooked or in some cases is the only draught version of that beer in town. It’ll be a chance to re-visit an old favorite or even discover something you’ve never had before.

This week Llyweyln’s in Webster will feature Stone Brewery Matt’s Burning Rosids on tap. While the St. Charles location will be serving up the Boulevard Smokestack Series Rye on Rye on draft and the Wildwood location will have Abita Grapefruit Harvest IPA on tap tonight. So, if you’re looking for something special without all of the lists and missed opportunities, make sure to stop into Llywelyn’s in St. Charles, Wildwood or Webster tonight!

sf-brewing-coRecently you may have noticed a few new cans on the shelves at your favorite beer store or bar. Santa Fe Brewing Company is New Mexico’s oldest brewery and has started distributing around the St. Louis metro. We’ll initially see Pale Ale on draught and cans of Irish Red, Java Stout, Happy Camper, and Saison 88 in cans.

To celebrate their entry into the market, Missouri Beverage is throwing a party this Thursday, February 27th from 6-9PM at Plush. Head Brewer Brian Lock will be on hand to talk about the brewery and introduce the brand. The new Missouri Beverage Craft Beer Team will be on hand as well. Enjoy complimentary beer samples and housemade snacks.
