quincy-logoWhen it comes to things I like, it’s difficult to get me to shut up. (Interestingly enough, when it comes to things I hate, it’s also difficult to get me to shut up.) One of the things I can’t stop gushing about is Quincy Street Bistro. Chef Rick Lewis has been killing it. He takes simple, comforting dishes and really makes them into something special.

So, it was with some great excitement when I found out that Quincy Street would be doing their first beer dinner with their South City neighbor, Perennial Artisan Ales. On Tuesday, June 4th at 7PM, Perennial is pairing five of their beers with five delectable dishes from Quincy Street. Here’s the menu:

Only a limited number of seats are available for this dinner and tickets will run you $55 per person. You can make reservations by calling (314)353-1588. Don’t miss out on this pairing of awesome food and awesome beer.

indihopBelieve it or not, there are people in St. Louis that complain about the pricing for some of our beer festivals. To them I say, find another place in St. Louis where you can drink craft beer for 4-5 hours and it only costs you $25-35. We’re ridiculously lucky to have such reasonably priced festivals.

So, color me a little shocked when I saw that IndiHop, taking place this Saturday, June 1st from 12PM-5PM, is priced at $15. (Apparently the price was supposed to go up to $20 as of the 24th, but even at $20, that’s still an insane price.) And what does 15 (or 20) dollars get you? It gets you a “tasting glass, event booklet, shuttle transportation between the Grove and Cherokee Street and the opportunity to taste up to 50 of St. Louis’ finest independently brewed beers.”

Participating local breweries include: Cathedral Square, O’Fallon, Urban Chestnut, 4 Hands, Ferguson, Morgan Street, Civil Life, Six Row, Schlafly, Square One, and 2nd Shift. This is a great way to celebrate to awesome neighborhoods and a bunch of local breweries all for a very low price. Tickets on sale here.

maifest_logoIt’s been 7 long months since we all got our schnitzel on during the Oktoberfest celebrations around the area. But the International Tap House in Chesterfield is wondering why “October gets all of the fun?”

On May 17 & 18th, iTAP Chesterfield will throw their 5th annual Maifest to celebrate all things (well, maybe not all things) German. There will be plenty of brats, bands, and most importantly: beer.

Plenty of German beer will be available including Hofbrau Original, Hefeweizen, Maibock, and also the Doppelbock Delicator. You’ll also get some locally made German styles from our friends at Urban Chestnut and The Civil Life Brewing.

This year they’re also introducing a beer festival inside of a beer festival (how very Inception-esque) that they’re calling Geschmack.  From 2PM-6PM on Saturday the 18th, you’ll have a chance to sample over 30 different beers from UCBC, New Belgium, Stone, Firestone Walker, Schlafly, Charleville, Odell, Bells, 4 Hands, 2nd Shift, Civil Life, Boulevard, Founders, and more!  Tickets can still be purchased at iTAP Chesterfield at a special discounted rate of $25 until tomorrow.  Then the price goes up to $30.

Last year our friends at The Civil Life brought us a great beer and food event that was fun for all. Well it’s back and it’s going to be even better than last year’s. On Sunday May 19th The Civil Life presents Pigs & Pints Part Deux.

What’s New: Bigger Tent. They super-sized from a 30 by 90 to a 40 by 100. There will be two bands. First up is Bottoms up Blues Gang at 12 noon, followed by Folk’n BluesGrass at 2 PM.

New beers from the Civil Life:

Premium Bitter – 5.6% and fermented with our usual “Bitter” yeast, we dropped in a little more specialty malt and quite a few more hops – Challenger and First Gold – and dry hopped with EKG. Despite being more hop forward, the malt is still right there with the work load being shared between Maris Otter and Pearl. Taps at Noon

Carlbock returns at 1PM!!!

English IPA– 5.8?% We reached to our ESB for yeast and put it against Thomas Fawcett and Simpsons Golden Promise and a touch of Pale Crystal. Bittered with UK Pilgrim. Taps at 2PM

Prairie Pils-5.1% Brewed for Bailey’s Range. For this beer they racked off yeast from the Carlbock and threw it into a Moravian Pils Wort. Hopped with Tettnanger and that’s it.

This family friendly all-inclusive event will include a pig roast featuring pigs sourced by Mac’s Local Buys. These pigs come from Kluesner’s Farm in Marthasville. They’ll be prepared by the good folks from The Block Restaurant in Webster Groves, Mike Emerson from Pappy’s and Skip Steele from Bogart’s. There will even be fresh bread from Companion. Afterwards, you can satisfy your sweet tooth with ice cream from Bailey’s Range. Food will be served from 1PM-3PM.

They luckily didn’t have to turn people away last year but this year they are limiting tickets and it will sell out. Please arrange today to purchase your tickets. AVAILABLE AT THE BREWERY! CASH ONLY. $45.00 adults. Kids 5 to 12 $7.00. Under 5 Free! Under 5 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Actually anyone coming should be a responsible adult.

This is an all day event. Organize a group of friends and get a table. Show us another beer event for $45 (tax included) that goes on for 6 1/2 hours, is all inclusive, has three new beer releases, is ordering over a pound of pig per person, plus sides plus ice cream, is being held on Sunday, May 19th at 3714 Holt and and Jake give you your ticket for free!
