While we’re lucky enough to be able to drink Schlafly beer, the Repeal of Prohibition festival provides a fantastic chance to try beers from around the country that you may not have ever sampled before.  And, even if you have had them, how often have you had a chance to try them in your own backyard?

Like many other areas in the Midwest, Iowas has quickly put together a bunch of breweries. This year Schlafly will be hosting Peace Tree Brewing Co. (Knoxville), Great River Brewery (Davenport), and Backpocket Brewing Co. (Coralville). Here’s a list of what they’re bringing:

This year’s Repeal of Prohibition will take place on Saturday, April 6th from 12PM-5PM at the Schlafly Bottleworks. Tickets for Repeal are still available, but they’re sure to sell out fast.  Looking forward to this event. It’s one of the best beer festivals all year.

bassoSo of you may remember way back in December when I showed off some of the photos of the newest (and possibly nicest) places in St. Louis to grab a pint: Basso.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit this unique space, a Samuel Adams tap takeover may be exactly the push you need to stop in. This Wednesday, March 20th (beginning at 5PM) Basso will be featuring a variety of Sam Adams beers to whet your palate. Here’s a list:

  • Cherry Wheat
  • Double Agent IPL
  • New Albion 1/6bbl
  • Dark Depths
  • Third Voyage
  • New World Tripel
  • Angry Orchard Hard Cider
  • Boston Lager
  • Alpine Spring

Basso will be offering up flights of these beers along with a special Boston-inspired menu by chef Patrick Connolly. They expect this to be a jam-packed event, so you may want to think about reservations. For more information including a phone number, be sure to check out the image below.

Tap Takeover-FINAL-01

I love it when a plan comes together. I love it even more when two breweries work together. In this case we have a brewery from St. Louis and a brewery from Kalamazoo, Michigan to put on one great event at Three Kings Public House.

You see, the folks at 4 Hands Brewing and the folks at Bell’s Brewery are taking over the taps at Three Kings and giving you a line-up that you have to see to believe:

4 Hands

  • Cuvee Ange
  • No Place Like Home
  • Chocolate Milk Stout
  • Contact High
  • Smoked Pigasus
  • Pyrus Saison
  • Single Speed (Jasmine Flowers)
  • Cast Iron Oatmeal Brown
  • Divided Sky Rye IPA
  • Reprise Centennial Red

Bell’s Brewery

  • Expedition Stout
  • Bourbon Barrel aged Cherry Stout
  • Third Coast Old Ale
  • Java Stout
  • Consecrator Doppelbock
  • Two Hearted
  • Midwestern Pale Ale
  • Best Brown
  • Double Cream Stout
  • Smitten Golden Rye

Whoa.

When can you enjoy this luscious list of beers? Well, if you mosey your way into Three Kings next Wednesday, March 20th beginning at 6PM, you’ll see one of the most righteous line-ups of beer we’ve seen in quite some time. Now that sounds like a plan.

I know for some of you, this is the festival you’ve been most eagerly awaiting for: the Schlafly 2013 Stout and Oyster Festival. Schlafly is flying in over 30,000 fresh oysters from both coasts and will offer a tantalizing “array of dishes, like Oysters Rockefeller and fried oyster Po’ Boys.” They will also be offering up a raw bar as well to give you the ability to try several different varieties.

Schlafly will also be flying in some some celebrity shuckers to open up your oyster faster than you can blink.

Oh, and then there’s the beer. Schlafly will be offering their Nitro Irish, Oatmeal and Kaldi’s Coffee Stout. You’ll be able to combine some of your favorite Schlafly stouts with the briny delight of fresh oysters.

Schlafly’s festival will be on start on Friday, March 8th from 5:00 p.m.-Midnight and continue on Saturday, March 9th when it will run from 11AM-Midnight.
