Archive for October, 2010

Tonight, starting at 6:00PM, a representative from the Schlafly will be tapping a cask of their collaboration beer, the Rye IPA and will be serving it at the Gramophone.

This beer will be available until they run out or the pub closes. My guess is that they won’t have to worry about it not running out.

Break out your glitter, mascara and hair spray because the International Tap House in Chesterfield will be holding Hair Band Halloween.  October 29th, from 7PM until close, the folks at iTAP will be kicking it old school by bringing back the rock of the 80’s.  Here’s the info:

iTAP is throwin down 80’s Metal Style. Friday October 29th, join us for the usual kick-ass time at iTAP Chesterfield. New Belgium is teaming up with us for the Halloween party, renaming some of thier brews for the bash. Ratt Tire, Starship Wit, Mighty Arrowsmith, Blue Paddle Cult, Night Ranger IPA. All of them will be $3 and we will have a DJ and Karaoke and the usual door prizes. Dressed or not, come on down to celebrate Heavy Metal’s most ridiculous era!!!

I gotta say, the renamed New Belgium beers are hilarious. This sounds like a hell of a time. I think I might try and make it out.

growlers.gifRumors have circulated on Facebook and it looks like the Creve Coeur location of Growlers Pub has closed. A quick scan of the Growlers website and Facebook page shows that the Creve Coeur address has been scrubbed from the sites.  No official word of the closure has been announce as of yet.

The Creve Coeur restaurant was the original location for Growlers Pub. This would be the second Growlers Pub location to have been closed since they began the concept in 1996. On a personal note, it was at that location that I began my journey into the world of craft beer almost 10 years ago.  I’m sorry to see it go.

The Sunset Hills location looks to still remain open.

stable_128x126.jpgI’m pleased to announce that the winner for the two tickets to the Monsters of Beer at The Stable is Tyler Kulasza! Congrats to Tyler and thank you everyone for entering. I’m hoping to have the full line-up of spooky beers for this festival coming later this week.

I want to thank Brad Wheeling from Amalgamated Brewing for providing the tickets to this event. Don’t forget, if you don’t win this one, don’t worry I will be holding more contests like this in the future, so you’ll have another chance then.
