SixRow_logoGod, I love everything that’s been happening with the local beer community. It seems like a week doesn’t go by where you don’t have some sort of special event taking place. In this case the Six Row Brewing Company will be holding a special cask event next Thursday, November 4th starting at 6PM.

They’ll be serving up a dry-hopped cask of their of their Double IPA. Here’s a description of the beer:

“Bigger in hop bittering, alcohol strength, and hop character than a traditional India Pale Ale, Six Row Double IPA is sure to please even the most discerning hop-head! Also known as Imperial IPA, this intensely hoppy yet very drinkable beer lets the malty characteristics take a step back allowing the hops to really shine.

Brewed with almost two (2) pounds of hops per barrel and left unfiltered, the Six Row Double IPA showcases the citrusy and piney characteristics of the Columbus, Centennial, and Chinook hops. Served in a 10oz snifter. (ABV: 8.4%, Bitterness Units: 68 IBU’s, Color 8.0, Original Gravity: 18 degrees Plato)”

This may be one of the best beers being brewed in St. Louis right now, but that’s just my humble opinion. It’s just a great time to be a beer fan in St. Louis.

On Tuesday, November 2nd, Dressel’s Public House will be hosting a very special “Meet the Brew” beer dinner which will feature beers and brewers Brendan Mcgivney and John Campbell of Odell Brewing Company. Beginning at 6PM, this four course meal will be paired with four different beers from Odell.

The cost of this meal will be $40 per person (tax and gratuity not included) and reservations will be required. You can make reservations by calling 314-361-1060.  Here’s the menu for the dinner:

Break out your glitter, mascara and hair spray because the International Tap House in Chesterfield will be holding Hair Band Halloween.  October 29th, from 7PM until close, the folks at iTAP will be kicking it old school by bringing back the rock of the 80’s.  Here’s the info:

iTAP is throwin down 80’s Metal Style. Friday October 29th, join us for the usual kick-ass time at iTAP Chesterfield. New Belgium is teaming up with us for the Halloween party, renaming some of thier brews for the bash. Ratt Tire, Starship Wit, Mighty Arrowsmith, Blue Paddle Cult, Night Ranger IPA. All of them will be $3 and we will have a DJ and Karaoke and the usual door prizes. Dressed or not, come on down to celebrate Heavy Metal’s most ridiculous era!!!

I gotta say, the renamed New Belgium beers are hilarious. This sounds like a hell of a time. I think I might try and make it out.

Duff’s Restaurant is once again holding their annual Autumn Beer Dinner featuring New Belgium Lips of Faith beers on Monday, November 1st at 7:30PM.  This is a very special beer dinner as it’s Duff’s 10th annual dinner with New Belgium.  The dinner will cost $60.00 which includes tax and gratuity. Here are my thoughts from 2007’s dinner for all of those interested in this year’s dinner.

It’s a spooky time of year and so The Stable brings back the Monsters of Beer festival.  On October 30th from 2PM-5PM, your $25 dollar ticket allows you unlimited 3oz pours of some monster beers with a commemorative glass.  This is always a very popular event, so you should buy your tickets as soon as you can from The Stable.

I don’t have the beer list for this event just yet, but I’m hoping to have it soon.

stlhopslogosmall.gifI know people have been asking about it, but it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. On November 19th at 6:00PM, STL Hops will be having its Third Anniversary Party in the Schlafly Tap Room Club Room. I realize that this isn’t in the cellar like previous years, but moving upstairs to the Club Room provides us with the opportunity to allow more people to attend.

Tickets can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets and the cost is $24.01. Why the extra penny? Because with the BPT service fee, the exact cost of the ticket is $26.00. All of the proceeds for this event will be donated to Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Your ticket will include beer and snacks. I’ve also added a designated driver ticket for $10 that will get you in the door for food, snacks and fun.

Right now I have confirmations from the following brewers/distributors on beer:

  • Schlafly/Bigelo’s Cask Rye IPA
  • Cathedral Square
  • Six Row Brewing Company
  • Homebrew from Civil Life Brewing Company’s head brewer
  • MoBev
  • Boulevard Single Wide w/Tank 7 Yeast & Sorachi Ace
  • Goose Island Minx
  • Major Brands
  • Avery duganA
  • Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti
  • Morgan Street
  • 2nd Shift Brewing
  • Homebrew from Perennial Artisan Ale’s head brewer, Phil Wymore

Keep checking back on this post because I’m working on not only getting a bunch of brewers but also a bunch of swag as well. 150 tickets are being made available for this event, so get them while you can.
